Joy Division / New Order thread

You must have been to shit gigs as I think its great.
Went to see Oasis play. The stage was at the bottom of a hill - was half way back so looking forward couldnt see the stage. and could only just see the screens either side. Stage should be at the top of the hill so everyone can see it. Getting out / home was ridiculous. Ended up walking back to Moston

I did exactly the same, but to Newton Heath.

You must have missed the 2013 cup final v Wigan
Correct, I could not go to that. Believe me, I was more miserable that day than any blue and it had absolutely nothing to do with City.
I had undiagnosed Crohns disease at that time and after slowly getting worse over a 10 year period, I was an absolute state. I was right in the middle of a load of exams, and was due to have a control engineering exam on the Monday (which I really struggled with). Because of the exams, I had to drop out of a mates stag doo in Vegas, after paying for it, which did not go down very well.
Remember watching the match in the Windmill in Failsworth with a load of rags. I was also drinking soft drinks. Ended up going to see the last ever Puressence gig at Gorilla that evening and had a bit of an accident on way home due what shortly after turned out to be Crohns.

Anybody read this? Reviews seem good so going to order for my Xmas time off..

I have read pretty much every New Order book that has been released. Have to say that the 3 Hooky ones are the most enjoyable. Have to take what he says with a pinch of salt, but they are good. Just started on Stephens New Order one.

I'm really enjoying this so far cheers.

Will move on to "substance" after this.

Also loving the Joy Division - Still compilation album. I believe it was introduced in the 80s to prevent the distribution of fake recordings from earlier songs and the Birmingham gig.

I don't know much about either of these Mancunian bands but I do know I love the songs World in Motion, Temptation and especially True Faith, so new Order I guess.

I have an online Manc mate though (who's a rag) who talks a lot about how great Joy Division are.

My tastes tend to be more stuff like Iron maiden, Queen, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Linkin Park, Eminem, Saliva, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Guns N Roses, Travis, David Bowie, Crowded House etc. I love music but I only like a select number of songs from many artists, I am not a hardcore fan of any band. I would say of the above though Iron maiden are my favourite.

By the way this thread was copied on Redcafe the other night, just a heads up. I look on their entertainment forum regularly as they're far more knowledgeable about books, movies, tv shows, music, films and games than they are football.

Had a read of the red cafe thread. Have to disagree with you, they know as much about music as they do about football. One of them states Bad Lieutenant and Electronic are better than both JD and NO. No wonder they think Fernandes is better than KDB, they are utterly clueless.

For fans of Joy Division and New Order there's a really good podcast out at the moment called Transmissions. Maxine Peake narrates it and there's some great interviews with the band as it takes you through the journey's of both bands. Definitely worth a listen.

Hahaha maybe not music then, I just threw that in there. To be honest I never really read their music threads but their threads on other forms of entertainment are pretty good. But yeah, they're generally very clueless about football.

How much did they rate The Other Two and Revenge!

Very tricky one is this but I’d have to say joy division even though new order have made some classics .
