weeks?! More like many months. Anyone thinking 2021 is going to be any better needs a quick, hard reality check.

we have a vaccine that has gone to 500k people allready and this will ramp up. Also the last summer had a huge impact. We just need to get through January and February.

Just listened to prof. John Edmunds from SAGE on C4 news.

More stringent restrictions needed nationwide urgently, according to him.

And a really good summary of the science from virology prof here.

Best get on to Boris pronto to take nationwide action on this new variant then.

'Cos from the presser today, the policy is to wait until it's out of control first.

But the scientists would have argued for a permanent lockdown since March until the virus disappears which isn’t viable. There is always a balance to be had it’s where that balance falls. Everyone should accept now it is not a story every time a scientist states that lockdown/restrictions are needed. That their permanent position.

The new strain is doubling every 6 days. That's 100 fold increase by end Jan without action. Do the maths.

Swansea 265 cases - up from 248. Total cases 12, 028. Pop score up 107 to 4870.

Bad news - these are the kind of numbers Oldham was getting 5/6 weeks or so ago when it was one of the most infected in the UK.

Good news - see discussion above about where Oldham is now.
