Shout out to the politics forum

All Socialists should be champagne Socialists, because the point of Socialism is we can all drink Champagne when we want as there will be an abundance of it, it is not just the capitalist class who can drink champagne.

It is one of those weird insults the crackpot right throw at Socialists because they don't understand Socialism. The weird cunts.
I did know what the term meant mate. Was just my (weak) attempt at humour. :-)

That's a good idea, how well does it keep? I was a Head bar/cellarman in my younger days and I do get fussy over how beer is kept.

7" singles, fuck me, i think the last one I bought was by Sham69, I do love the Pogues though and you cant beat a bit of Irish music for a bit of a jig.

They date stamp them from when they are fillled and sealed, they advise once opened drink within 5 days, but they are only 5lt so 9 pints and I normally have finished it well before the 5th day.

They are alright, nowt beats a real pint but these do the job for now

I’m proud when there’s sensible, intelligent debate. Less so when there’s senseless arguments and trolling. I think you severely overestimate the value of online advertising btw!
I’m only pulling your leg, I’ve not idea how much it is to be honest.

The pubs are shut pal, i am of course a purveyor of fine traditional ales (lifelong drinker of Robbies Best Bitter, Holts and Hydes), partial to a tot of Lambs navy and love a large Irish Whiskey as i sing "Tiocfaidh ár lá"
Fuck me - we have more in common than both supporting Brexit

My upbringing was 'influenced' by Robinsons (Brown Cow) and Holts (Ellesmere)

The Cow is now a Tesco express. Is the Ellesmere in Monton?

My cousin did until quite recently run the Oddies on the precinct. I used to do a bit boozing down the Paticroft end, Wangies, Bridgewater, Stanley, and others.

Gutted to hear about the Cow

The Ellesmere is in Winton - set back off Worsley Rd - but you had to walk past a Boddies pub - the Egerton to get there - so a lot didn't.

Another pub we will have in common is the Packet House on Patricroft Bridge - best Boddies to be had for me - my Friday night pub crawl when a teenager was Peel Green to Eccles

I have been in the Packet, not often though. I used to work in Eccles 30 years ago and a lad i worked with lived on the road opposite Wangies and i used to stay over occasionally and go on the piss with him. He moved to Irlam and he took me in the Tiger, that was an experience :))

I know the Ellesmere now, i have family in Winton.

I'd agree with a lot on here about the Politics Forum - and the Matchday Thread histrionics too - and I have always been a big supporter of the Politics Forum when people talk about getting it shut down. One thing that really surprises me though is how much it has shown how thin skinned some people can be.

I have no idea why rag and dipper snoopers go in the other threads to post stuff to rile people up if they want to cause carnage say something controversial in here - BOOM!! Their work would be done lol.

Get onto holts beershop and get a few kegs of cask

https://www.joseph-holt.com/shop/bitter-mini-keg-cask-ale

Delivered straight to your door, had my delivery of a keg, some two hopts and maple moon yesrerday to keep me going for a day or two

As for Tiocfaidh ár lá" strangely enough I,was sorting out my old 7" singles the other week and found a copy of "the merry ploughboy" by dermot obrien where that came from and if I bought ut in my younger day I cannot remember

For some reason I never got my head round Joey Holts - the bitter had a weird after taste to me. Then again I was brought up in Middleton drinking J W Lees and thats a beer that divides opinion too.

Because Lees is just above Robbies on the tastes like dishwater strained through an old sock level of standards.

Disclaimer: I actually don't mind MPA and Plum Pudding from them or trooper from robbies but the rest are shite

oddly enough - despite having never drunken anything strained from a dirty old sock - thats the exact same analogy I use when trying to describe to someone why I don't like Holts. Small world eh?
