We played Newcastle only 48 hours ago so I’m guessing they were infectious then which just shows how crazy this schedule is during a pandemic.

exactly, it could have spread round the whole squad in the dressing room on Saturday, given Newcastle have 2 players who haven't recovered from it it could be seriously damaging to us.

I'm amazed that more clubs haven't had outbreaks. There's so many possible contacts across the league(s) that even with lots of precautions, it's going to get in.

Maybe more will with the new more contagious variant. It's rife in London which is now in lockdown and London teams are travelling and mixing their sweat and spit all over the country. Sounds risky to me.

I don’t give a Flying Fortress about the football. All I care about is that all players and staff affected get well soon.
It’s only a flaming game, this virus is dangerous and all that matters is people’s lives. The stupid football authorities should never have started this season and definitely not the flipping cups. If any player from any team dies from this it will be their fault. Money and TV all that matters to them.

Statistically football players will be fine, any interaction with over 65's is where the danger lies.

Season should be suspended. There are things more important than football (and Sky/ BT/ Amazon being able to screen premiership games every day). I hope everyone recovers successfully from this horrible disease but it seems being fit young sportsmen and women is no guarantee that will happen. FFS the game at Arsenal in tier 4 should never have been allowed to go ahead. Just suspend the season until the players, officials and other staff have been able to take their turn to have the vaccine. The TV companies wanting games to screen does not make those involved in football " essential workers" so I reckon it should be Easter or later before the season should recommence, if at all !
