Everton (A) | Game Postponed

To those kicking off about us wanting full transparency, here is Villas statement on their postponed game when Newcastle had an outbreak

Aston Villa can confirm that the Club fully supports the Premier League’s decision to postpone our fixture with Newcastle United on Friday following a significant COVID outbreak at the Tyneside club and the shutdown of their training ground by Public Health England.

We would like to thank both the Premier League Board and Newcastle United for their comprehensive and transparent communication during the process which resulted in this decision being reached.

Everybody at Aston Villa wishes a speedy recovery to all those at Newcastle United affected by the virus.

Right decision and the premier needs pausing for at least a month.

Exactly more and more cases are popping up, probably because the mutant strain is a lot more infectious. It's making a mockery of health and safety and the fairness of competition. It needs to stop until infection rates drop and the vaccine is rolled out.

It sounds like the criteria may have been changed a few hours before and Everton were just told about it afterward.
Who really gives a fuck when they were told. If the premier league decided the game should be called off on safety grounds then that’s the issue here, not the offence caused to neverton fc by not being consulted. And to be frank, quite why 2000 people are allowed to sit close together given the pandemic is beyond me - I imagine the data for this came from your mayors office, he seems like a trustworthy sort of a guy

It's the PL, when has there ever been transparency around "decisions", just look at how VAR is arranged for some ?

I take the point.

It doesn't detract from the legitimacy of the request for transparency in this instance.

Fookin chill out people.
Everton have done nothing wrong and are merely disappointed , as we all are.

Football has been a bit more of a relief from this shit than we all thought and nerves are becoming increasingly frayed.

It is their job at the end of the day and no one should potentially die doing their work.

Lock down now.

Why would they consult neverton when it was a decision made purely on medical grounds? I don’t get that at all
Because Everton Football Club were preparing to host a premier league football game and blissfully unaware. It’s not just a case of Ancelotti and his players, the whole club are involved from grounds staff to medics etc.

Out of nothing more than common courtesy they should have been kept abreast of the conversations between the Premier League and City.

Im not suggesting that Everton would’ve pushed for the game to go ahead (I actually think they would agree with the decision) but to not consult them shows the premier league’s incompetence.
