Nedum Onuoha the pundit

a pupil at the Hulme Grammar School, Oldham, where he achieved eight grade 'A's' and two 'B's' at GCSE. He then completed his studies at Xaverian College Manchester where he achieved three 'A' grades at A-level in Maths, Business Studies and IT
Xaverian College always did turn out some very smart blues...

Maybe be so, but Nedum went to Hulme Grammar School for Boys, Oldham.

I’d always believed that to be the case, my old school!

All correct lol

Just looked up Hulme Grammar, I knew that Nedum was an old boy as well as John Stapleton and Brian Cox the physics guy but didn’t know about Andy Barlow the footballer or Sarah Lancashire who was at the girls school.

Yes. Sarah Lancashire and Shobna Gulati were at the girl's school when my sister was there. Brian Cox was in the 6th form while I was there. Andy Kershaw was a student there too.

Personally I think he acted like a gentleman and a man with character enough to rise above the unnecessary things that were said about his mother. Genius enough for that and good on him
The vast majority of people wouldn’t have the dignity to behave the way Nedum did, he would have been justified in swiping back at the club imo... but he didn’t.

He’s the opposite of bitter.

He could have been very bitter after what Gary Cook said about his Mam, but I don’t recollect him bad mouthing City at all only heard him saying good things about us.
Shame about the sordid period people defended Cook over the email.

They should hang their collective heads in utter shame about that time and they'll know who they are.

I think I probably pre-dated you by many years, I left in 1972

Pep would have loved Nedum at the back. His speed and intelligence would be used to its full potential.

It was great seeing him on Tele. Hope he gets more pundit jobs.
Ha ha. Think you’re kidding yourself a bit there. Nedum was a good athlete, and showed promise early doors, but then went backwards.

Severely lacking in the technical ability required to get near a Pep team.

Nedum is very assured when he does punditry. Quite a lot of ex-players try their hand at it and with all the televised games during the pandemic, there's plenty of work to go round. How and when the demand for pundits will change is unclear but Ned might make a longer-term go of it if his smarts and manner can make him a match for those with a bit more of a name in the game in the eyes of programmers.

I hope we get to see him cover more City games.

Thought he was good, and Sidewalk too. Was like a breath of fresh air in that there was no edge to either and they talked seriously about the game.
Nedum's podcast is well worth a listen.
At this stage, he is a lot better than Micah
