I'm gonna guess that's normal either way given it doesn't stop people from catching it. Just prevents severe illness right?
I reckon so you will still inhale the virus just will have the weapons to deal with it.

Whilst the NW fell a lot today and GM was down 225 to 1193 the % of the NW total rose to 29.5% from 27% - first rise in some time.

This was driven mostly by big rises to cases today in Wigan and Stockport. And falls elsewhere in the NW.

Indeed Stockport was up a lot whilst Trafford had a much better day so that I would probably have to say Stockport is right now the biggest problem in Greater Manchester.

Though Wigan may yet become the real concern as today's number was second only to Manchester and the highest in Wigan for five or six weeks.

These numbers fluctuate day to day like all testing does as there can be a lab hold up on data day to day creating a rise so never wise to base it on one days number - but that is why the Pop Score matters as it judges cases over the week and tells the story more clearly.

On that basis Stockport is struggling without doubt.

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD SOUTH

EAST 6224 - down from 7640 to lowest in 5 days.

LONDON 13, 178 - down from 15, 089.

SOUTH EAST 8349 - down from 10, 844

SOUTH WEST 3093 - UP from 2104 to record high.

South West starting to go the way of the rest of the south. High numbers for a largely rural region. Otherwise some big falls here

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD : - MIDLANDS

EAST MIDLANDS 3151 UP from 3079

WEST MIDLANDS 6421 - HUGE RISE from 2860 More than East one of the worst regions in past weeks. And the highest number ever here.

Looks like the wave of cases has well and truly hit the Midlands and going north as the average is clearly escalating here.

I fear the Northern regions will be chasing these numbers and worse in weeks to come;.

The top 10 watch areas for who should be in tier 4 based on cases just released,

FOUR of them are in Merseyside. Wirral, Knowsley, Sefton and Liverpool. And a fifth is Halton.

As obvious for days now so no surprise in here no doubt.

The other 5 are three in North Yorkshire (York, Hambleton and Richmond).

Another is near Bristol (North Somerset)

And the highest infection rate of all not in tier 4 is Bromsgrove in the West Midlands.

It would seem this new infectious strain is pretty much conquering the nation.
Yes cases in Bromsgrove my local authority have rocketed over the last 4 days. Most of it is the Redditch side of Bromsgrove but we really should be in tier 4

REGIONAL SCOREBOARD - NORTH

NORTH EAST 1947 - UP from 1130

YORKSHIRE 2754 - UP from 2175,

It really looks as if the new variant has reached here as the steady rise over recent days is clear

1336 - 1184 - 1760 - 1886 - 2057 - 2495 - 2175 - 2754. Doubled in the week. After being stable around the 1000/1200 level for some time before then.

AND NORTH WEST 4040 - DOWN quite a lot from 5164.

But Greater Manchester contributed only 225 of that 1124 - meaning others had far better days and the GM % of the NW case s rose for the first time in over 3 weeks to 29.5% of the NW total.

England hospital patient data up to 1 Jan

Patients - down 194 to 22, 534

Ventilators - UP 41 to 1940.

This is the highest number on ventilators since 1 May.

As in Mayday - which sadly sounds all too appropriate.

Yeh, their not sure if it stops asymptomatic transmission but it has 95% efficacy at stopping people getting symptoms etc.

Also the vaccines are only RNA of the spike protein not the pathogenic part.
Yep but I'm not sure which segments of viral rna the pcr amplifies and detects if they are bits that code for spike I guess a vaccine could in theory of itself be detected by pcr but I see no way it could get to the swab.
All of which is to say I don't know the answer for sure but it sounds highly improbable.

England hospital regions in last 24 hours:

LONDON Patients DOWN 174 to 5511 Ventilators DOWN 7 to 657.

MIDLANDS Patients DOWN 136 to 3808. Ventilators UP 6 to 312.

NE/YORKSHIRE Patients DOWN 30 to 2532, Ventilators UP 210 to 179.

And NORTH WEST

Patients DOWN 10 to 2540

Ventilators DOWN 3 to 195.

Though NW fell today Yorkshire just fell by more to now have fewer patients than the NW for the first time in a couple of months\

In other England hospital regions down south.

East added 122 patients to rise to 2910 and 12 more ventilators to 199

South East added 12 patients to rise to 4034 and 23 more ventilators up to 324

As you can see at the moment the NW is doing well comparatively.

So far.

France have vaccinated 138 people up to 30th December not surprising when only 40% of the population are willing to be vaccinated.
