Hopefully, we get proper questions from Journalists tonight like "What are the criteria for lifting restrictions?" "How many people have been vaccinated so far?" "How long do you envisage this long down to last?"

No point every other question being "Why didn't you lockdown sooner?"

Probably making sure all the ducks are aligned correctly. You know planning and delivery. Especially economic and defence stuff. Things that smaller jurisdictions don't have to bother about.

I think they have done better throughout, including before the variant made any impact.

Harder restrictions put on sooner, and precautionary principle applied to lifting. They currently already have harder restrictions than England despite lower case load and less new variant.

But I've not followed it all that closely, could be mistaken.

The spike protein is a highly complex and folded protein that takes up a 3D structure dependent on environmental conditions and its solvent but if you alter the amino acid sequence you potentially change the 3D structure and hence forcefields that control neutralisation reactions.

Very true. But... if it still plugs into the ACE2 receptor then a number of the vaccines will still work. The only way they won't is if we have magor genetic change and that generally only happens on species jump or vaccine pressure. It takes a long time for Flu to make such change.

Johnson doesn't have the support of his own MPs so promised a vote last time around.

Many are of the Hartley-Brewer school of reality.

Don’t think raising concerns over public health issues can be classed as political. As now seems certain schools will not reopen even though Johnson and co claimed they are safe , so looks like the unions were correct while Johnson and his band of Merry men were spouting shit .
