Has someone hacked your account, IIRC earlier in the pandemic you were advocating bundling young people off to "covid camps" where they could all happily get infected. Not totalitarian at all...
Volunteers - I.e.Voluntary infection for healthy young people not at risk. I trust you understand the meaning of the word.
Incidently if we had we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

Right thing to do is full lockdown.

As per johnson has to be shamed into doing it by other politicians showing they are not scared of the big but tough decisions.

Would rather a lockdown now and the infections to drop while vacination stations should then be set up quicker in this period.
The sad thing is if we had done this three weeks ago we would have suppressed from a lower base and be looking ahead to mass vaccinations with real hope of being out the other side by end of February.

It might take a bit longer than that now.

So any perceived saving of the economy will be harmed by the likely need to expend on furlough for longer.

Very true. But... if it still plugs into the ACE2 receptor then a number of the vaccines will still work.
It sounds like the variants work better because they have an increased affinity for the ACE2 receptor. If their affinity has changed for the receptor it follows that the antibody binding affinity may also change. I am guessing so people shouldn't worry if they read my comments.

If they come out and say "Yes we are doing another lockdown but we are setting up multiple vaccination centres in the country that will get x amount vaccinated in a month" I think a lot of people would accept there. At least it gives people hope of light at the end of the tunnel

I work for a company involved in the vaccine rollout, there will be good news on that front. Not sure whether he will announce it yet though.

I don't think anyone wants to, but we've given up most of the things we like anyway, and most are following the rules, but some do need to be forced to follow them sadly.

If we want our freedoms back quicker (and I know I do), I don't think there is much choice than to have another shutdown.
I don’t disagree with lockdowns, what I disagree with is the introduction of rushed laws to curtail freedoms without proper discussion or thought. We may as well be a police state.

A thousand times this.

One of the (many) lessons our country has refused to take on board is that it's the virus that ruins the economy. If you don't control it, your economy will tank.

Do struggle to understand how places of worship have remained open. In the Netherlands, they cannot be closed as the Constitution prevents the Government from ordering them so, yet it can insist that extremely strict measures be put in place. By their very nature, they are places of congregation and communion, so it strikes me as odd that Scotland has only now ordered them closed again and England presumably not.
My local synagogue took the decision to close a couple of weeks ago rather than wait to be told. Made sense despite no cases linking back to it since it reopened.

I don’t think journalists should have airtime on the briefings. They should get another slot.

But I actually think it will be a Boris on his own on a pre-recorded statement where he’s sat down at a desk, with no journalist section.

I think it will too.
I expect there will be a follow-up with questions later in the week, after it's gone through Parliament.

Yes that would help if he ( BoJo) has a worked through plan (yeah I know).
He was asked about the vaccine rollout this morning ( specifically the 2m a week figure) but wouldn't commit to anything until more data was available.
So if he still hasn't got this data he shouldn't commit, but we have so many instances of overpromising and underdelivering nothing would surprise me.

Surely, sometimes we just don't have the time to debate everything & decisions have to be made urgently
