Yes (my missus works there) they will be staying open (where they have opened), the NHS ones are now seeing everybody because they have no choice due to the way they get paid, obviously it's still pretty restricted turn round as they have very restrictive ways to see people, even with full PPE, if they do anything that causes aerosol for 30 minutes, then the surgery deep cleaned after that, if it's just a check up ten they can see patients consecutively.
Thanks cleavers, I've got 2 broken fillings that need sorting, I'll phone my dentist tomorrow and see what they say

it’ll happen. There’s never been a pandemic in history that’s caused this level of disruption for more than a handful of years and that’s without modern medicine and it’s always come in waves.

We now have a vaccine, that can be modified to stop mutations.

Come the summer you’ll be watching the Euros with a pint.

Unless your dead obviously

Woah... woah.. woah. To much shouting there ;)
i did think about writing it all like this and without any full stops as they are very distracting too but in the end I found it hard to break the habits of a lifetime as a writer because my publisher might well think i have gone senile and my editor would have more than a few words in response that would not need any capitals for emphasis it is so much easier to do it this way but reading it not quite so much

Fucking hell mate, he’s having a hard time as it is lol

You know I have seen a level of what I call deflation setting in with lots of people, I am probably as laid back a bloke as anyone could possibly be so my reaction is general apathy now, I have given up totally and accept what will be will be.

For those who stress I have nothing to say that can help, I wish I could but I can’t its a mindset. We are in the lap of the gods here so if you can just accept it’s a game of chance, if you can’t then I hope you get through it.

A few commas and paragraphs wouldn’t go amiss. Plus capital letters , 99.9 % of bluemoon posters like capital letters

PLEASE PLEASE

I find it pretty scary that we’ve not found much of a way of treating very poorly people when they get to hospital with this nasty fucking virus.

For all the initial bluster about various methods nothing seems to work well.

From the experience of my missus, if they won't see you, somebody will, hers are now seeing patients from elsewhere, but if not an NHS patient at that surgery it's private prices I'm afraid.
Happy to pay if I have to tbh, don't want to get tooth ache and they need sorting. Thanks again!

I found it interesting that NS said today that hospital bed capacity is getting towards how we were in April or more than that in some areas, but ICU not so much. She particularly highlighted that part of this is due to better treatment and care, which is good. Of course it'll unfortunately still rise as time goes on and the Christmas/new year catch up takes place.

They don’t talk about it much though, in general media, so I’m not convinced. Ventilator numbers are still following same trends, as are deaths.

Its great to know that we can put a high number forward by way of confirmation of the number of positive cases. Great to know that the govt managed to ramp up the testing capacity and testing capabilities. Brilliant!
Unfortunately, though, it's done us no good at all, because the ramping up of the capability - without adequate speed of learning the results, coupled with following up with timely isolation and contact tracing - has rendered the increased capability futile. It's got us nowhere.
It highlights an inability to organise. An inability to lead. We have gone round in a bloody circle, back to square 1, wasting a massive, ever expanding budget as we go.
I don't make this as an overtly anti-Johnson point, because I don't think there's a heavyweight political leader in either major party who would have done the right thing. But, he has been well and truly found-out as inadequate by the pandemic, imho.
Perhaps when this is looked at in a public inquiry - if the govt is ever brave enough to have one - it can stipulate that new legislation should be implemented for the setting up of an NHS/SAGE lead body to take the poltics out of decisions, come the fateful day that the W.H.O. declares the next pandemic has arrived. Health decisions must override everything else, otherwise, thinking/decision making is too muddled and the messaging becomes too mixed. I'm sure as eggs is eggs that THAT day will surely arrive again before too long.
Until then, I hope we all survive to return to the Etihad in the summer,.
Happy new year!

Far too optimistic as usual, it's just wishful thinking.

Even after vaccination it takes 3 weeks for "immunity" to be "safe" from serious illness (for the majority), and you could still spread it, and as has already been posted tonight, it's going to be 3 months minimum, even if they can hit their target (which they have consistently missed on every other target they've set, so not very likely).
Is that related to someone else's comment?

It's literally a race to save lives. One day this will all make a gripping Netflix movie. I really hope we can get our vaccine operation motoring. The only positive out of this is that with the pace of people getting immunity, either by infection or by vaccination, the crisis should be resolved one way or another pretty quickly.
The case of the South African variant means that in time we may have to re-engineer the vaccines. We probably would have had to do this at some time but I didn't think we'd be thinking about this as we were just delivering the first vaccines. Still too soon to say but this is the black cloud on the horizon.

I hope we'll find the vaccine effort in the UK will quite quickly bring some success in the over 80s. I heard this evening we had vaccinated 20% of the over-80s group so we should expect to see the results of that in hospitalisations (in that group)?

I sympathise but you cannot take the politics out of decision making.
1. If you prioitise one aspect, you risk finishing up with nonsense. Ok, we are all healthy but there is no economic activity, sort of thing.
2 SAGE etc have not been elected by anybody so their priorities reflect their own background, training etc etc. Working class needs ignored.
