Messi is obviously still great - the best player in world football right now IMO. But he's aging.

Pursing Messi is a distraction IMO given Messi's age. I'd much rather we focus on long-term players.

Messi is probably the best player to ever play the game, and you said it he is still the best in the world. An aging messi would probably drop deeper into midfield and still boss it.

Indeed he very well might - but at the cost of potential player disharmony - and probably not being able to sign some other top-top player due to FFP...

I love Messi - one of my favorite all time players. But signing him, would, IMO, probably be a mistake... if he's on a free, that's another story - but team chemistry might well be upset even so.

I'd rather much that we sign Haaland and skip the Messi mambo.

Soriano. (MEN)

"I can't say anything about [Lionel] Messi," he told Catalunya Radio.

"Anything I say, even if it is obvious, can make a misunderstood headline. It's clear that Messi has earned the right to choose what he wants to do. He's the best in the world.

"In previous situations when there were rumours about a potential departure from Barca, he had some obstacles. Now he has nothing that blocks him. He will choose where to play. We're aware of all the players in the world, but we don't participate in individual decisions. As Manchester City CEO, I can't say anything."
Sounds like hes coming but i cant say anything for legal reasons

Oh no please don’t, if he lands in City I will pray he doesn’t play in midfield... he has to stick to a striker role. He has to score goals!!!

We wouldn't need to pay a transfer fee for messi though, just wages which I guess would include a large proportion of them being incentives and bonuses etc etc

It is muted that the funds to do this are separate from the transfer funds, meaning we could end up with both messi and Haaland

Imagine

I have a feeling Kev won't sign untill Messi has said what he's doing

Messi will want £400-500.000 + shares
Kev will not want ti be to far behind Lionel & neither with Sterling

City need to get contracts sorted soon as
Kev 80m 4 year deal
Stegling 85m 5 year deal
Lionel 50m 2 year deal?

Barcelona took a 4 hour bus to their last game instead of a flight to save 30 grand.

The idea they can afford Messi staying is laughable. Pep & co should be thinking who else they can poach while Barca are on their knees.

De Bruyne is smart enough to know he's nowhere near the footballer nor the commercial giant that Messi is and his salary won't come close.

He will take a salary that befits the player he is - probably the highest in the league before Messi arrives, and count his lucky stars that the best player in history is about to play next to him, draw 3 or 4 defenders away from him, finish the chances he creates and improve his chances of winning silverware.

Don’t think Kev gives a flying fuck, he’s that laid back.

With messi and kdb creating chances you'll be unreal. Messi us an even better playmaker than he is finisher.

Arguing over who misses the next penalty, would prefer a proper striker preferably at least 8 years younger and wants to play here.
