i would go, i think the option should be there, You can shop at tesco 24hrs a day. whats more important? Toilet rolls or a vaccination
Perhaps they could have McDonalds do them. You know. Wheel out an 80 year old from their nice warm pit, for a drive through jab and fries. If they survive the compulsory 15 minutes in a holding bay they get a coffee and a slice of warm apple pie.
Rinse and repeat in 12 weeks.

I think they might make them easily accessible in the Summer once they are down to the lower tiers on the ladder of age ranges.

But just imagine the press stories about a granny being robbed as she is 'forced' to go to a jab centre at 3 am.

Given the way some have behaved in the last year, I don’t think that’s as straight forward a question as one might think.

This seems pretty stupid, if true.

Really needs a comma in that headline, I read it as the pharmacies were wanting to dish out knock off jabs the government weren’t going to because of quality.

I am not (quite!) that old yet but I would try to get there to get a jab.

Indeed there would be less people about and that would be something I might prefer than getting there amongst crowds.

Though I would only go if my brother could drive me there rather than go alone in the middle of the night as I do not drive myself.

That may be something he has not considered. Older women on their own (as many often are) would not just go out in the middle of the night on their own. The virus is less scary in some ways than doing that.
There are other impracticalities of it, you mention one, how do the frail and infirm get there ? (Not meant at you), but they'll need help.

There's also currently a shortage of injectors, so are we making those that can work 24/7 ?

I would suggest a reasonable time frame is 7am to 10pm, 7 days per week, and that would easily accommodate enough injections per day.

I was cynical about this too, but someone's just pointed me towards a very fair counterpoint. They are using selected pharmacies, just ones they feel they have the logistic capability. Fair enough!

Just had a look for my regular glance at the weekly excess total deaths from all causes figure, but no data from this Tuesday - the latest was from 18 Dec - and that shows a trend through December of excess deaths falling slightly if anything, to 1463 above the 5 year background average figure (13,011 deaths that week in 2020 vs a ‘norm’ of 11,548 deaths).
I’m guessing the 25 Dec figures are delayed due to the holidays; hopefully we’ll get them tomorrow.

If they put a coma in the headline I think that would put everyone off having a jab.

Jabs cause coma would not be a good message.

A comma though would have helped, I do agree!

this from the generation that likes to remind the youth of the ‘war time spirit’
We don't live in the 1940's, and in any case you have no idea of my "generation".

It's impractical I've at least addressed some of the reasons. Shall we get a 3am taxi for the 80 year old to get a jab, from the overly tired jabber, are you paying or is the 80 year old.

The Sunday bit is the most striking for me. Why would they decide to just take Sunday off? It's literally one of the two days that most will be more likely to be available. Baffling. It should be an around the clock thing. It's literally a matter of life and death.

Edit - just read the rest of the article. Fuck me. Why are they ignoring people literally trained in giving jabs?

Surely someone has to ask on Thursday, and to whoever shows up on the BBC in the morning,

I feel like I’m about to go into a coma lol, thanks for the heads up on the typo.
