They have to get off their fat arses and do some work , recalling parliament usually means a vote on something
Haha Thanks.

Maybe Lockdown announced tonight... voted on, on Wednesday... maybe for Thursday/Friday

Going to be a long month. Still, it's what has to be done and hopefully there is some genuine light at the end of the tunnel come February after we come out of lockdown (fingers crossed).
With hindsight, wish we'd just gone the full on locking people in their homes that China went for.
Feel sorry for you all down South, what a colossal fuck up Johnson has made of this.

Can somebody answer what is probably a very simple question.

Why do Scotland, Wales etc just announce that something is happening without having to vote on it, whilst we have to put it through Commons to vote on?

Or am I missing something obvious here.

Guessing SNP have the majority in Scotland so Nicola will consult with them and they all agree they will vote it through, so she then accounces it.

Do struggle to understand how places of worship have remained open. In the Netherlands, they cannot be closed as the Constitution prevents the Government from ordering them so, yet it can insist that extremely strict measures be put in place. By their very nature, they are places of congregation and communion, so it strikes me as odd that Scotland has only now ordered them closed again and England presumably not.

She comes across far batter than any politician in Westminster. Unfortunately I don't think they've dealt with it any better than the rest of the UK in terms of managing to protect the vulnerable population.
I think she has communicated better, our test and trace works well, The whole political discourse around it is a damn sight more civilised than Westminster. Wether it has saved lives or not I don’t know. From the headline stats, our numbers per 100,000 are lower than England’s overall but I wouldn’t jump to any conclusion on that.
