I know completely changing the event to make it sound like it was Bells fault when we all know that twat buchan sythed him down
Colin was really bitter about the tackle, which you would be, and the fact that Buchan never visited him in hospital to apologise, something that George Best did after he broke Glyn Pardoe’s leg. Not that it made any difference but at least he apologised.

I’ve seen the Best, not defending it at all but you can tell he was angry at himself for mis-controlling the ball and was desperate to win it back.

Being angry at yourself and being desperate for the ball back is a recipe for disaster and whilst there’s no excuse, at least he did apologise and acknowledge what he’d done.

More of a man than Buchan obviously.

I hope you are talking to the daily cunting mail here and not to me? I reported what the cunts said and was attacking them for it. I hate the daily mail and I loved The King. My work computer password is still a mixture of Colin’s name, number and nickname, more than 40 years after he last played for us
Of course the Mail.. just backing up your assertion/observation..

From my post history you'll never find me defending anything red but, I sure a few months ago when this was discussed recently someone posted a picture of Buchan at Colin's hospital bed.

Another insensitive headline

Scousers get non stop slagging on here, highlighted here https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/corruption-in-english-football.348986/page-2 for indirectly getting a journalist sacked. Mock them as much as you want but they wouldn't tolerate that above headline, its sick, disgusting, insensitive, cheap, spiteful, inexcusable, its a fucking horrible thing to write anyone but a person I have never heard a bad word spoken about makes its worse. If the writer still has a job by close of business tonight then you as a support base haven't done your job.

The number itself was sufficient
Massive wouldn’t normally be used for numbers anyhow
And the number (48)) was not enough for a player of Bell's standard, so maybe these 'journalists' should've used 'insufficient' rather than the inappropriate 'massive' (just as that useless twunt Jackson could easily have written 'a tackle BY (not ON) Martin Buchan')

Especially when you consider England show ponies such as Beckham and others getting many, many more caps.

George Best had it right when he evaluated Beckham (and others like him) as 'not good enough to lace my boots'. I have no doubt he would've included Colin Bell on his side of the equation because Bell was THAT good..

As much as I agree with your comments we are a fanbase not a cult.

Is the correct answer.

As a few people have said, it sounds 'wrong'. That's because we have a little things called collocations in English.

The journo involved is either a snide, rag **** or an incredibly poor writer. My bet's on the former.

I reckon there were twice as many internationals in Beckham's time than Colin's - plus England didn't qualify for the 1972 or 1976 European Championships or the 1974 World Cup. Their respective number of caps is comparable, especially given Colin's injury.

Sly sports interviewing Ashton and Bent ........ are Manchester City in the title race.... really
