I was one of his biggest critics and thought he was done here. He is currently at his best ever level. I have no idea how he has got to this level but I am absolutely delighted he has.

Dunno what my favourite story of the season is... Dias being the leader to fill Kompany’s void and lead this entire club, or John Stones becoming consistently world class and speaking like a true man. Or the fact that combined they have made us a defensive powerhouse as a whole team, it all stems from them at the back.

It's funny how so many can switch from literally trying to give him away to these comments we see now in just a few months isn't it? Best form of his career this. So unbelievably assured, it's Kompany like but with better technique. Just keep him fit and let him keep doing what he's doing.

I always wanted to keep him because I figured he's English and any backup would be more expensive than we could get for him. Never thought he'd be the first name on the team sheet again.

People were calling others crazy for expecting more than 20 million in the summer, and now look.

I am so happy for him. Don't know in past what was going on with him ,he had some problems hope that is solved now. Currently he is playing best football in his career. This is new John more confident and more aggressive in defense and one of best in the world when he playing like this.

Have to admit, before the start of last season I felt he needed a brilliant season to salvage his career with us and when that didn't materialise, I felt he had to go last summer and was disappointed we held onto him.

Sitting here halfway through the season, I have to say how proud I am that he's proven me and I'm assuming many others wrong. He's been absolutely immense since his return to the side and what he's showing week-in, week-out now is a maturity that we'd never previously seen. He's robust when he needs to be, he hits row Z when he needs to, all while maintaining his passing ability which has always been there. First name on the teamsheet these days along with Ruben. Fair fucking play to him.

He’s played well enough before to know he had the ability but he just couldn’t do it on a long term basis.

This is still a relatively short term performance peak but it’s probably the best run of form he’s had, just shading the period before his hamstring went against Leicester a few years back.

He’s playing well. Moving the ball quickly, defending well, particularly 1v1. Keep it up.

His confidence is his biggest issue, it's never, ever been a lack of talent. All he needed was to be backed. A long string of games to get back into it.

Pep dropped his constant rotation policy and it has done wonders for the guy.

It is amazing, isn’t it?

Still, better late than never, and so on.

I’ll be honest, I thought Stones was finished at this level. Last season he looked petrified of taking any risks and his passing suffered as a result. Not only that, there’s a strong case to be made that he started this season as our 5th choice CB.

However, I think there’s a lot more to his return to form than simply be partnered with Dias. He looks stronger, is more confident and seems to have a much stronger mentality.

Last season his head would have dropped after he scored the disallowed own goal and he’d have gone into safe mode. Tonight he didn’t give a fuck and put in a flawless performance. He’s easily England’s best CB and on his current form, not other English CB comes close to him.
