Keir Starmer

I would rather vote for something i do believe in as negative democracy is voting for the prettiest ugly sister.

I just hope the CPGB stand in my constituency
You could be their candidate and lose your deposit. Pity the CPGB dissolved 30 years ago. (Splitters!)

This does rather put all your posts about what Starmer and Labour should do in a new context.

I am a lefty, i want to vote for a party that is of the left. I am probably a lot closer to the Communists than I am to the Social Liberals/moderates of the Labour right, but the Labour party has always had a Marxist influence, why wouldn't it, he is one of the eminent political philosopher's in history.

Maybe leave it a while

The Express is bonkers. Apparently after being bought by Trinity Mirror it retained editorial independence, that independence was established by Richard Desmond who donated to the Tory Party and was thanked by that **** Farage for his backing of Brexit.

Marx? Johnny-come-lately in labour history.

The liberal media won't like that. Keith is there daddy.
The liberal media should have given it the attention it deserves. Zilch. Only needs 5 for a quorum at a branch meeting. They might all have been Communist infiltrators.

Funny stuff. He just achieved the first polling lead in several years. You'd almost think people were stirring up trouble. Personally I find it doubly laughable because they are playing into the hands of RW's like you. But that's a thing, you know. Some leftists want the Tories to go as far right as possible, whilst they sit on the sidelines. T

he idea being that unchecked RW politics will blow the whole thing up then we can start over. Problem I see with that is, whilst unchecked RW Narcissistic politics does usually involve more and more destruction, the institutions are strong enough to keep it from happening at any real pace. It could take decades. And even then, why would socialists have an edge on retaking the country?

That's all hypothetical, however. I'm of the opinion that not blowing up the country is generally step one to making it more pleasant and liveable. We were given wonderful, lasting things by previous generations. We ought to be looking after them.

I mean, that's almost conservatism, isn't it? It's why there's such a mix up in people's heads. The current conservative leader treats parliament as something of an inconvenience. He seeks more and more ways to bypass it. Repeated proroguing, using the Corona briefings for political messaging, doing most of his communication in interviews or briefings. And their answer to 'bias' in the BBC, presumably the result of a failure in it's independance - right? - was to threaten it and install their own man. They even threaten lawyers in public.

That's not conservatism! That's not conserving the traditions and institutions - particularly the law and parliament - that form the strength of the nation. That's monkey business. With Union Jacks.

Labour history started before the Labour Party.

Marx didn't start the struggle.
I never said he did, i said he has an influence on Labour party thinking.

Of course there were other influences like Winstanley who organised what was considered a proto-communist community in Surrey in 1649. During the English civil war there was a movement for what we would consider left wing democracy. The Diggers advocated the abolition of the aristocracy and the state church.

You were obviously using the word labour to mean the worker, i used it to mean the party.

They might all have been conservative infiltrators as well.

Or they might have been 5 people who genuinely think Starmer is not up to the job.

Either way it is hardly newsworthy.

Birth control, Ho Chi Minh, Richard Nixon back again
Moonshot, Woodstock, Watergate, punk rock
Begin, Reagan, Palestine, Terror on the airline
Ayatollah's in Iran, Russians in Afghanistan
Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride, heavy metal, suicide
Foreign debts, homeless Vets, AIDS, Crack, Bernie Goetz
Hypodermics on the shores, China's under martial law
Rock and Roller Cola wars, I can't take it anymore

My post was re the no confidence vote which you appear to have ignored and answered something else

I think the no confidence vote itself is a minor local protest. What's more worrying for Starmer is that he's only polling a whisker ahead of this useless government in its darkest hour.

Totally agree change of leader for gov with economy looking up will ensure a Tory win.

Who have Labour got who is a more electable leader, who middle ground of mainstream voters in Britain would be happy to see in No.10?
From what I’ve heard and seen from him so far, I rate him, and would vote in a way which led to him being PM.
