All places I work in are packed out with staff , lots of industrial units who can’t work from home and company’s can’t afford to be off

I'm in a relatively small town outside London, there are more cars about than first lockdown, but the town centre is deserted of people when I've been in it, and after 6pm the roads are pretty much deserted, and as I said above public transport is also deserted.

Plenty of cars knocking about around here, and when I nipped to the butchers earlier there were plenty of people out and about, but with it being a Saturday then I suppose everyone is either out for a walk or out to do some shopping.

It‘s just not March/June of 2020 but as I’ve said previously we were in the unknown back then and pretty much everything was shut, it’s a different kettle of fish now unless the government take it stricter and make it more like last year.

Plenty of businesses had great aspirations for 2021, after the shit year last year, and consequently some are trying to ride out lockdown by staying more open than they should.

Anyone heard about the craze growing on tik tok to do a in car date night? Rock Paper Scissors between you and the other half to choose the drink, starter, main and dessert. I know of 3 people doing it today, driving to various food outlets and having to drive to 4 different locations. I give up.

If hospital patients outside of London were being sent home to die so that Londoners can be saved then he'd have a point.

I'm not sure that is the case, however.

I don't know where they are seeing this "more people using public transport". I overlook a station with trains in and out of London, and they're deserted, at most a few are on them, and they're still running full length trains, which is baffling. All our buses in the town are pretty much empty, still running normalish timetables, and rarely more than 1 or 2.

I read that public transport is running at 18% of "normal" levels currently, the first lockdown it was less than 10%, so basically twice the level of public transport usage as the prior lockdown.

crossfit gym I goto , was speaking to him today it been a real struggle this lock stuff I only been going 2 months he been good enough to lend me some equipment told him I’ll keep paying as I’m still working

To be honest, I’m not sure individual borough stats mean that much any more. Not to say don’t stop posting the updates, but I just don’t think borough specific analysis makes much difference now. We’ve seen the whole of Merseyside get twatted because of being in lower tiers, now we are seeing GM catch up because lockdown is not strict enough with the new variant.

I think that is a reasonable position to adopt and day to day I agree is always subject to testing vagaries that taking a longer term view as I am here smooths out.

From that wider view it seems very unusual that the three lowest scorers become the three highest scores consistently in quick speed.

In fact GM officials were asking Hancock for two of these three boroughs (Stockport and Trafford) to be kept out of tier 4 less than a month ago. He rightly said no.

And obviously nobody will be asking that now.

But it shows the rapidity of change.

In those 3 weeks since just before Christmas Stockport has risen over 300 Pop Score Points from just 133. Then second best in GM (now third worst). And Trafford a very similar rise from 168 by about 300 up. Wigan has done even worse going from 155 to nearly 500.

These are not day to day fluctuations but very clear indicators of trends as to which areas are in trouble. That is why the government use Weekly Pop numbers to decide local measures not day to day case numbers.

Manchester - despite posting huge case numbers in recent days far above these boroughs - has not gone up quite as badly.

And borough like Oldham that were top of the government watch lists and the main reason GM stayed in restrictions much of the past 6 months are now up there with the best in GM scoring modest numbers.

The drivers of the escalating numbers have changed significantly over the past 3 weeks and I would think someone would be asking why.

Over here the police are everywhere - after 1.00 p.m till 5 a.m at weekends you are not allowed to leave your house for anything - no exemptions apart from emergency services and front liners. more Crackdowns coming from PM very soon with escalator numbers in all categories apart from vaccines unfortunately...

You lot are going through a horrid period but it does look really positive on the procurement and roll out of the vaccines over there which should be massive bonus to your morale In these dark times.

Just wanted to praise the good burghers of Kidderminster today. Everyone wearing a mask today at Sainsburys. Sadly there were no staff at the door checking people had washed their trolleys and sanitized their hands. That has to change.

The only problem being is you can do all the sanitising at the entrance and then touch one item and there's a probability (small?) someone with the virus has touched it. It's so difficult to stop cross contamination but we can only do our best.

Id rather not take up a slot for those when there’s people that can’t get to the shop at all.

I want making the point from my own personal well-being perspective, I can still keep the right distance. It’s unnecessarily adding to risk for them and others though taking the whole family on a jolly outing to Morrison’s. I thought the guidance was limit it to as few a people as possible.
