The fact is leaving office makes no odds to it. It also means that any Republican has to go on record as to whether they think sedition and incitement to violence is a bug deal or not.

Trump is a criminal. Not just your average criminal, but one who has committed numerous crimes that have had real consequences for millions of people.

And you want to let him go off and profit from his fraudulent business empire and play golf just in case some gormless rednecks might get upset. These are the gormless rednecks that are shitting their pants because they can see those involved in the Capitol assault are being rounded up and brought to justice and it won't take long for them to work out that if they step too far out of line the same will happen to them. They'll be back to boring people in bars about the injustice of it all and shagging their sisters within a few months.

The really dangerous ones who might actually go out and shoot people will do that anyway whatever happens with Trump.

That shouldn't be a reason not to act.

He's a dangerous criminal. Let's be brutally honest; if he doesn't make that speech on the 6th the assault on the Capitol building does not happen, and 5 people would not have lost their lives.

Trump is holding a rally in Texas today. What are the odds that it will turn violent?

An example of lessons learned. Get ahead of any shit like this. Once he won the election in 16 twitter were screwed in terms of banning him. As of right now every institution will be making moves to ensure they are in no way associated with him going forward.

I am not suggesting however that he should not be drummed out of office. Merely that there is no obvious solution.

Unfortunately the "election has been stolen from us" genie is out of the bottle and now not even a Trump statement that he fully accepts that the election was fair and just and that he lost - not that we'd ever get such a statement - would do it. The nutjobs would simply conclude he'd been coerced into making such a statement.

No, unfortunately, he's drummed into them that the election has been stolen from them and they are too nutty to comprehend otherwise.

It won't in Texas. That is home soil for the insurrectionists. He has gone there for a reason. He will double down on his crazy BS - claim he will never concede etc. We will have to see what he says about the 6th but i dont expect much. A few muted lines about not supporting violence (on the advice of lawyers in respect of what has and might happen).

But after that I think he is done.

There was a 10 year gap between Hitler's failed coup attempt of 1923 and him taking power in 1933.

The next presidential election is 4 years away. If he isn't barred from standing, and his criminal children and enablers aren't dealt with this will be the end of the USA as we know it.
