I suppose Brian Reade could fit into both categories Dave, journalist and also ‘daft fan’, as this all time classic demonstrated ;)
I gather that he later asked that his name be removed from the online article due to the amount of piss taking he was getting from City fans as Yaya broke his beloved Liverpool in 2014

Was this article penned by Septic Peg?

I was lacking context. I meant why does history matter when assessing a team as far as what it deserves, in the capacity that the media often reference it as others were discussing in the thread. Not why history matters at all in a general sense, which on reflection is how it reads.

Fair enough mate, just don’t come on here being all contrary.

Wasn't slagging him off for pointing it out it just made me laugh when he said it wasn't dunney also the most sent off captain in prem history
I thought you were insinuating bias because they'd used DunnyMonster as their punchline instead of anybody else, didn't realise you were simply laughing at the joke. :)

I'll get back in my box :))

It was open up to lockdown and actually went in there last February and bumped into a Mansfield Town nawty boy I knew back in the day called Jonathon Partmenter, who was widely known in Nottingham as 'Parmental', so they still attracted the same really high class of clientele as recently as that!

That unit has always done very well (they have been known to sell half a metric tonne of chicken wings in an evening!) and it's been there since the turn of the last century, with the same manager (who is a good lad, even though he's a rag) throughout, so I've never quite understood why they haven't rolled it out elsewhere with any discernible level of success. I think there was one in Brum and Cardiff both of which failed. I know they looked at a site in Newcastle but got knocked back on the licence. A Manchester site is also ringing a bell too. Odd that it's worked so well, and for so long, in a relatively small place, but not elsewhere, especially given how successful it is in the States. Very strange. Never been able to work that one out.

A knock off version of Hooters was opened on Deansgate, think it was called Teasers and it died a slow lingering death.

Quite right mate.

It saddens me that some brain dead morons actually seem to hate United more than they care about hungry children.

Marcus Rashford is one of the finest examples of what a modern footballler should be, more than virtually any other out there.

THe lad is a modern day hero. He really should be knighted asap.
Can't be having that - I'm sure we could all name plenty of people more worthy of being awarded that title (if that's your thing).............

The entire modern noveau football fan’s equating of history to mean trophies began with Liverpool fans at the turn of the Millennium and was originally aimed at Chelsea following the Abramovich takeover.
Not only were these entitled melts mortified at seeing league titles suddenly being racked up by a club they traditionally considered beneath them while their own empire crumbled, they were further triggered by their home town hero Gerrard agreeing to move to Stamford Bridge, only to later change his mind after being pressured by organised crime figures in the city.
Thus their “You aint got no history” song was born and belted out whenever they played Chelsea.
It was all they had left.
Nonetheless, it was a message and position that would be amplified by compliant client journalists and the explosion of social media and online football outlets and forums, and thus adopted by other fading redshirt establishment fanbases as their complacency and decadence meant they could no longer compete on the field of play.
When City came along, it was the final straw. And not only with trophies.
For Gerrard to Chelsea, read Sterling, Tevez, Adebayor and Nasri to City. And unlike Chelsea, we got our men.
The supporters of LFC, united and Arsenal - the three clubs who were responsible for the very invention and concept of the plastic, glory hunting modern TV fan - suddenly decided that not only was the past another country, but it was better than the one they now found themselves living in.
And they all had their former players and media mouthpieces onside.
Like Les McLeod, the ‘Creme Brulee’ one hit wonder has been from The League of Gentlemen, they preferred living in a rose-tinted version of the past rather than accepting the grim reality of their present and the unpromising outlook of their future. To paraphrase Les, “Remember when my team was good? Football, its a shit business isn’t it?”....
Notwithstanding its factual inaccuracy in all aspects, as the recent FA Cup trophy documentary has demonstrated, ‘No history’ says more about them than about City. It is an entitled, embittered and terrified howl into the void. The death rattle of dinosaurs.
Great post, extra points for the LOG reference... but only 1 because it's Les "McQueen!, There's arses need wiping!".

Anyone seen the daily Mail today, the rags haven’t even played Burnley yet and they are talking like they are already top and have won the game. Setting them up for a fall?
That's Legohead's team talk sorted then.
Personally i think they'll get a result which will send their giddy lemmings into a full on wankfest which will make it all the funnier when it all turns to shit.
If they happen to lose, we can laugh at them a little bit sooner.
Either way, the Rag loving Fail has set them up for a fall and it's win win.

Taking the league off the rags and the dippers all in one go could be our greatest yet if we keep playing the way we are at the moment.

BBC Sport reporting CFG have taken a stake in a Bolivian side as a partner club, Club Bolivar from La Paz
