Woke up this morning and felt bloody awful, when I lift my head off the pillow it felt like the room was spinning, I had two beers last night but thought that can’t be it. Walked to the toilet for a piss thought i was going to fall over, so back to bed. Anyway my missus was talking to the next door neighbour who had it over Xmas, he said he had exactly the same thing, didn’t have any symptoms but that went for a test and he was positive. Just booked and had my test within 30 mins, can’t go into work now on nights but could this be new symptom? I remember when people were claiming about loss of taste and smell when it wasn’t widely acknowledge.
Yes - I had all those dizzy symptoms;abs in fact still do). I suffer from motion sickness quite badly generally (might be linked to my ear) so perhaps some are more susceptible to this than others.
I had deep chills & a heavy cold when mine started too.

Keep well & let us know how you get on.

41, 346 cases

1295 all settings deaths

Good drop but we never get told test numbers for England at weekend.

Ridiculous really

So no positivity rating.

Every other nation manages it. England cannot be arsed.

Well with the situation we’re in, I’m more suggesting the opposite, where we actually need to be testing every single person in the country at least once a week. Like the Premier League us. Otherwise T&T will never keep up with the spread and all that money is wasted.

What should happen/should have happened, is an eye-wateringly strict lockdown as early as possible. Borders closed, stay at home (which really means stay at home), workplaces apart from essential produce shops all shut (no exceptions), no international sports or things like the CL, nobody moving around the world or even the country, and a T&T system then brought in to get a grip of who’s got the virus.

Then slowly open things up, after it appears the R is at ‘0’. But borders should still remain closed (like in Aus and NZ) for a long time after while the virus is still around the world.

The T&T system would then work.

It might be hindsight to say we should have done that from March last year, but we saw what happened in March and should have done it ahead of the Autumn rise and again before this Winter rise. We had a chance to learn from March and didn’t learn and didn’t do it either time we needed to subsequently from March.
I think a lot of people agree with this analysis. Our "approach" has been a disaster. There are several countries who have taken your approach and done relatively well in terms of limiting deaths and having a more solid foundation to open up again.
It was really alarming at yesterday's briefing when asked what could be my us out of the lockdown, neither of the scientists mentioned test and trace. Obviously, you wouldn't expect the buffoon to.
We have very good local NHS test and trace who could have been relied on to ensure any outbreaks are contained once the virus has-been suppressed. Of course, they then gave 22 BILLION to their private sector mates.
Another problem is as we can see, the incentive to isolate is poor with very low sick pay and those on zero hours not compensated at all.
I still am unsure how we have ended up with now (from all data) over 100,000 dead. The incompetence theory is quite possible ( a recent classic was keeping coffee shops open but messaging " you shouldn't walk around with coffees"). But if you look at some of the free trade fantasists in govt then for a lot of them the old and inform reply my on public services don't really feature

But each vial in a package will all be from the same batch surely, I’ve worked in cosmetic manufacturing and filling and know how this works to a degree. Not sure why they can’t be topping up the dose from the next vial as long as they’ve kept different batches apart.
I think it would slow vaccination down more by checking vial batch numbers. And you'd have to double check it at least.

Hey you know test and trace is finally working. Far to fucking late but hey.

It's worth reminding everyone, these are Fridays numbers so not a weekend number.
Of course, that is true. The 'low' weekend death numbers are reported from Saturday and Sunday on Sunday and Monday but the England hospital numbers and hospital & out of hospital numbers from the other nations were lower than yesterday. So the increase has to be from out of hospital deaths (care homes etc) just in England. That number has risen by a few.

However, the last 5 death numbers for UK in all settings have been:- 1243, 1564, 1248, 1280 and 1295 today.

That is supporting the plateau reaching hypothesis.

The 1564 had last weekends catch up data from the days deaths cannot be registered so easily as midweek so would always have been artificially high as it is in every other week.

Woah hold up champ, a text? I'm not 100% on how this is being rolled out but text sets off my Spidey senses

Edit: check ofcom and covid scams and texts, they have some images of scams
Yes a text. But linked to a website where she could book her jab. And confirmation back from her GP surgery. My son is pretty savvy and said it all seemed fine. But if we’d not visited today she wouldn’t have known she’d ever received an invite.

I've been keeping a track of our LA number of cases by day of test since Dec 1st, and the trend is now firmly downward, both in daily number, and the 7 day average.

The 7 day average peaked at just under 200 around Jan 4th, and it's now below 150 for the 2nd day, first went above that on Dec 22nd, 2 days after we jumped from tier 2 to tier 4 in 2 days.Cv.JPG

Excellent sorry I didn't mean to patronise

I am getting very depressed again , the medics are giving horror stories from the wards and the scientists say the numbers are not going to go down any time soon

Sigh

In England, so presumably the rest of the UK is roughly in line, daily rate is now exceeding the rate we need to go at for the Feb target.

will fluctuate but surely good news

Honestly, with talk of 500,000 jabs a day this time next week, I think they’ll smash it and have it done ahead of schedule.

Neil Ferguson was on LBC this morning and said we may be going through the peak of cases but hospitals and deaths will be another 2 to three weeks. Good job they abandoned the 5 day thing over Christmas, one day has led to bad enough figures. Leaving Merseyside in Tier 2 for so long has been coming home to roost as well. Madness.
