a question

my wife tested positive on monday the 4th
so we have to isolate for 10 days.
ive sent my test off yesterday, if it comes back say tomorrow does my wife have to start her 10 day isolation again ?, my daughter is waiting for her self test to arrive, if it comes today and we do the test and it comes back in 2 days positive, do we then have to start isolation for 10 days again ?

It would seem so - and would surely make short breaks impracticable - and in general holidays too expensive?

When going to Cyprus since July - they have required a negative test taken within 72 hours to be allowed entry - this has cot £205 per family member. We have then be OK to come back to the UK. If the UK now require them for entry - perhaps this should have been the case for some time - then another test would have to have been organised - wherever you are holidaying - within 72 hours of returning.
this will kill the travel industry then unless they will take a vaccine certificate rather than a test.

Not really he said we didn’t know yet , he said it could be 6 months it could be 12 months but we won’t know for a while
Exactly. I would imagine 6 months is worse case scenario. But they cant tell until there is enough evidence that vaccinated people are becoming reinfected. And thats just a waiting game.

Warrington has seen a huge rise in case since it went back to Tier two a few weeks before Xmas. Pubs packed, restaurants packed, shops packed. It’s no surprise
Yes I have been tracking that and posting the numbers here every night. Almost every borough in Merseyside is now through the roof also. Not just Liverpool and Wirral - the two I post data on here every evening.

In fact some smaller Merseyside boroughs have had huge pop score rises in past couple of weeks. And Knowsley - which WAS the worst in England 3 months or so ago but got things under control is now rocketing upwards to the top of the worst infected list and has just entered the 7000s for Pop Score - something no borough that small ever should. Halton and St Helens are in big trouble too.

This pattern across Merseyside has been very clearly building for weeks and the government simply has to have seen it happen. Indeed it is almost certainly why they finally acted. But the truth clearly is they hesitated to roll back from their message of rewarding Merseyside for doing such a good job - an argument that is not as clear as they allege that it is down to the wider testing. We know that because GM never got this and fell almost immediately after Merseyside to what soon became even lower levels than they did.

But the narrative sold was Merseyside did what we asked - it worked - as a reward they got tier 2. GM rebelled - said no - and look at them - stuck in the highest tier for months.

They did that not for scientific reasons as most people believe but to prove their argument about the tiers and mass testing. And the tiers have now come and clobbered Merseyside in exactly the way we saw in here and was frankly6 obvious so I cannot believe the government and their advisers did not too.

Which leaves big questions that journalists SHOULD be asking but seemingly as yet are not. Because they too I suppose largely follow what they are told and use week old data and are constantly chasing a virus that if you leave be for a week can go out of control.

If I was not following this data myself I would not know these things either. But the scientists directing the government surely have to be aware. I do wonder why none saw coming in Cheshire and Merseyside what was very very obvious if you paid any real attention to the data in the NW over the past 6 months.

Heads will roll over this. And should do. Because lives have been lost to stubborn ideology and nobody should ever just accept that.

i think teachers getting it so they feel safe and can give our kids the proper face to face education they are so badly missing out on is a bit more of a priority for me.

although to be fair I am gutted when games get canned and it is one of the good days in a sea of shit when I can watch some sport.

He does actually put several caveats such as this in there when he's suggesting it. His overall point is actually pretty sensible in that it must cost god knows how many thousands of pounds to be testing hundreds and hundreds of players and support staff at Premier League clubs two or three times a week. Give them the vaccine and spend that money elsewhere!

Still need to be tested even after vaccination. Can still pick up the virus and potentially pass it on.

I apologise if my posts on this lately seem to be treading into political territory. I am trying to avoid that as this is above politics. But it is hard to entirely separate them when politics interferes with crucial decisions. And when the decisions cost lives and put all our futures in jeopardy by delaying things that should have happened weeks ago to the point that these create a crisis built out of a delay many scientists were asking them not to create then you cannot just ignore it.

I suspect the future of British society and prosperity is riding on the next few months much as it was in Summer 1940 and we have to get this right from here onward. If not it is injury time and we are closing in on goal about to shoot and score but instead turning around and passing it back all the way to the goalkeeper so as to play for a draw. This is the key moment of the game for the UK and we have to get it right.
