"It is understood the stadium safety officer decided the torrential thunderstorms around Etihad Stadium meant the area was unfit for the game to take place.

I thought they had said it was because of safety issues and there were no trams.
Iirc it was the wind that caused the postponement because several of the match day program huts were blown over

Wonder what time the referee will get to the ground if the ball doesn’t run well and the forecast is more torrential rain he could call it off.

Gladbach, that was the roads around the ground and safety of supporters not the pitch though. Weather was great when we finally arrived half hour before kick-off for it to be cancelled.
Remember it well. Literally just parked up and walking past the Asda when I got the news. Fuming.

John Stones didn’t gift them an equaliser we were 2-0 up when he tripped over.

Besides we were good for the win, should of been 4-2 if we had taken our chances.
You're right of course we were 2 up, too long on my lappy yesterday. It did give them hope when there should have been none and yes, we were worthy winners.

I had travelled from Edinburgh for the match. I had struggled to find a hotel and ended up with one somewhere in the Hyde Road area. I had to get a taxi to the hotel from Piccadilly amid the floods and another to the stadium after checking in. I met my son who had come up from London at the Etihad.

Neither of us had anything to eat so we got some chips and sausage. No sooner had we collected this when the announcement came that the match was off. I was bloody annoyed we didn’t find out two minutes earlier. We ended up walking into the centre and found a pub to watch one of the other matches. There was then the hassle to get back to the hotel via a bus.

With the match being rearranged the following day, we needed an extra night in the hotel. It was fully booked so I had to search online to find another and ended up over from Salford Quays near Old Trafford.

Apart from that it all went smoothly!

Should have too much on current form, should we maintain that standard. But if we let it slip Villa are a side that can take advantage of that. I’ve gone for a tough fought out win.

And there was me fuming because I’d travelled 4 miles for nothing!ha

This weather is reminiscent of the game against Villa in 2014 when we were going for the title.

We battered them 4-0, it pissed it down all day and during the game, so I don’t see why this game won’t go ahead.
A tense game in the title race that.

Was sat 3 rows from the front of the Colin Bell, piss wet through and when Dzeko scored the first you could feel the relief as soon as it rippled the net.

The floodgates (literally) opened then and we scored another 3 with Yaya getting a late goal after a trade mark run.

Left the ground soaking, cold and incredibly satisfied.

I am probably repeating other posts but I remember two games being off at the Etihad: a CL game which was because of lightning and a Premier League game (Sunderland) but that was the wind. All the wheely bins and program stands were blowing around the forecourt.

In summary I don't think rain alone should be a problem.
