In fairness, he does reference that transfer as being an exception in the very next paragraph!
In fairness to me, I stopped reading at that point :-)

However, paying over the odds for a match-ready centre-back in the January transfer window is such a specific and unusual thing, that even doing it once can't really be brushed away as an exception. It's like saying it's not been the model for me to brutally murder and then eat my next door neighbour, although I made an exception a couple of years back.

It's not as if they've never showed off a trophy they've already lost before.

I think even I'd go to that one though. The idea of a bunch of players parading a trophy they no longer have with a few players who didn't even win it would be too funny.
The Premier league trophy with it's blue ribbons back on it?

I don't think they would have lost at Anfield if their fans were there. Having no fans at the ground doesn't really impact us as we barely get many anyway and they're all silent. But you can't really put into words how special the atmosphere at Anfield is.
We get bigger gates than your team the dippers, if there such brilliant fans, why don’t you fuck off back to rawk forum, dickhead.

robertson screaming in that kid greenwood's ear to try and distract him, one of the most classless things i've ever seen
You must've missed Vigil the Dyke doing it on a regular basis last year then!

It's clearly coached into them and the fact that most opposition players won't make a big deal out of it (due to its level of embarrassing pathetic-ness) means that they routinely get away with the snide school-kid level tactic.

There's a funny Barney Ronay article in the Guardian, sticking the boot in on Liverpool (https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...verpool-have-stood-still-while-others-push-on).

While that's always worth reading (anything sticking the boot in on Liverpool, that is, not a Barney Ronay article), it does contain the following fanciful nugget:

"Liverpool’s owners don’t want to pay over par for a match‑ready centre-back in the transfer window. This has not been the model."

Barney's memory apparently doesn't stretch back as far as January 2018...
I like that he starts off making the argument that this result wasnt Williams' fault - he is a skinny, fragile kid with a lot of talent. He then spends the rest of the article revisiting all his mistakes.

Thats because it means more and now unity is strength....unless you are Loris Karius.

Should be booked for unsporting behaviour. Soon stop then.

Or Williams. It would seem. Every bad result needs a scapegoat.
