Chelsea thread 2020/21

Why did Arteta get the number two job then when he had done nothing up until that point?
pep knew him and obviously liked his outlook , but this isn't about arteta , this is based on lampard is a nice bloke and used to be a good player, dont get me wrong i like lampard and reckon he could do a good job with pep, however thats peps decision based on what he thinks lampard could bring and not how nice he is.

As I say, you look over at OT and the latitude Ole has had by comparison you can see the differences in how they are run as organizations
The rags have made so many managerial mistakes, they were frightened to sack another appointee quickly. Strangely enough, despite Solksjaer appearing a duff choice, he’s taken advantage of that reluctance and is finally doing well. Much of that may be due to Fernandes‘s contribution plus soft refereeing but he must have played some part. Whether it lasts remains to be seen.

Twats as they are, utd’s failings largely come down to incompetence whereas hire and fire is embedded in Chelsea‘s business model. Lampard’s departure will cost them no more than buying a moderate player who turns into shite. As for reputational damage, it will be water off a duck’s back.

This. Number two jobs can be a great development role and test bed for relatively untried individuals with perceived high potential. Especially those with club connections. They can make good sense for both parties.

At least they have a German manager in to appease the German lads could have ended with Bayern tapping them up end of season ..
Bayern did not go for Werner and Havertz before - why should they now. It is similar to the Haaland rumours - no players that sit on the bench but would not be first on their or other positions at Bayern.

Both do not really match into the Bayern system - and Müller and Lewy still have atleast 2 years to go and do not show any decline. And both are far away from that level. After 18 match days Lewy has 23 goals and 5 assists, Müller 9 goals and 9 assists.

There is players on their position that play on world class level, want to always play, are Bayern captains and still have atleast until 2023 to play top level. Both are living for their sports and are nearly ever injured. And it is still the time when we have to talk of Corona and in which you do not spend money for fun on positions in which you are not very needy.

Shame. Looks like the 200M in players was a bit of a poisoned chalice. Chelsea did show some signs of life early this season as well. Thought keeping him would be an emphatic moment for the club, as though they were rounding a corner in recognition that money+stability wins these days, not just money.

A good argument is that Frank never had the experience to build a project out, but I'm not convinced by that argument considering he was sacked on the back of a scant 1.5 months of bad form and had shown some really promising things with mobilizing their youth.

Imagine being a top player and considering going to Chelsea, and then getting a call from the manager the way Havertz allegedly was called by Frank. Would you even care? Statistically, man's gone in 9 months.

That's twice they have dumped him. Now and when we picked him up on a free when Chelsea wouldn't offer a contract.

Werner can't hit a horses arse with a banjo, not a single one of their new wingers seem capable of providing any sort of creative spark that they were brought in to provide and Pulisik, when not injured, seems to have lost all the excitement from his game that he was beginning to show near the end of last season - just shit players or down to Frank?

Pep Guardiola on Frank Lampard: "You have to win. People talk about projects & ideas but it doesn't exist. You have to win or you be sacked. I respect the Chelsea decision but a huge hug for Frank, hopefully when the lockdown is over I can go to a restaurant and see him again.

Was always gonna be a disaster for lampard because you can’t just go from a mid table championship team to managing one of the biggest jobs n Europe and with no experience either. The only reason he lasted this long was because he was a Chelsea legend. I do like lampard and wish him well in the future. The same thing could happen with gerrard when he gets the Liverpool job when klopp moves on .
