Why?

And you’re not the first one to say this in this very thread ... lots of oh rest players here for Burnley as somehow this fixture is easier than the Burnley game ?!?!

Why is that? What’s the perception??
I’m not suggesting we rest players tomorrow. That’s what the rags did which gave the wrong impression to their team who thought they only had to turn up to win

play full strength tomorrow and we’ll batter them.. my opinion... I could be wrong

but Burnley have hit a bit of form and know how to make it difficult

as I say just my opinion and people who know a lot more about football than me have got predictions wrong many many times before

It’s a common perception... I didn’t mean to single you out either that’s why I said others have suggested this earlier in the thread ... Burnley is an easier game for us than Sheffield United ... statistically as well as if you actually look at our results over last few years ... but every time we have played Sheffield United we’ve only ever gotten just over the line ... still somehow Burnley is perceived as a harder opponent than Sheffield Utd for some reason and I just wanted to understand why is that?

You are right, I shouldn't let it bother me. Just pisses me off that we're all the same really, aren't we? Two working class football clubs with passionate fans. We won the lottery and they didn't, at least not yet, but it shouldn't come to bad blood between us. Sad to read.
Depends what you mean by the same mate. We were a working class club for sure and we have many old skool blues who can never forget where we were in the doldrums, myself included. I don't do Instagram or Twitter and I very rarely go an Facebook. But I can imagine we have plenty of clueless JCLs who tarnish the good name of proper blues who know the score of this club being skint to becoming loaded.

Don't want to derail this thread because it's not the right place to discuss, but I will say this. Meeting genuine opposition supporters in pubs before and after games gives you(me) satisfaction that those who know their history on us know the score.

Being an away game maybe it's the setting, the place"s bleak forbidding moors & dark satanic mills, or the six-fingered folk peeking out of alleyways as you drive in.

All today is about is 3 points ....first time in 18 months we can put pressure on those around us possible 4 point gap before they play paperboy will shite it when this happens fantastic opportunity this and will give us a huge boost for remaining games.
What a month January has been so far keep it up and make us all happy .

Don't let it bother you pal, doesn't bother me. If they are basing their hatred off this website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook then they are just generalising and trying to drum up a dislike to us. This forum, although the biggest fan forum doesn't represent the majority of City fans, far from it. I'd say it only represents 10% of regular match going blues.
We have our element of idiot fans as every club does, it's just that we have an increasing number becoming fans because we're in the spotlight as a big club nowadays. I picked these posts out by blades who know we are not all bandwagon jumping morons. Good posts. -

As did I, once. I think we lost. I seem to remember Carl Asaba getting sent off as he was lying on a stretcher.

Had the pleasure of seeing Maine road once was a proper football ground

The Kippax was a proper stand. It was noisy as fuck all night. I think we lost, but I remember being a kid and thinking what an awesome stadium it was.

I remember, as a kid, always feeling some sort of affinity with Citeh fans. They, like us, had neighbours who were full of themselves (admittedly theirs were somewhat justified at the time, early 90's), and they were the "working man's club" in a city that was, at the time, dominated by their rivals.

I was genuinely delighted when they won the league. I jumped out of my seat at the "Agueroooooooooooooo" moment, and felt a sense of "what if, if they can do it, then maybe...."

I don't dislike the old guard of City fans. The ones that used to go to Maine Road in the 2nd division, and kept the faith, despite being overshadowed for so long by the biggest, most famous club on the planet. I hope those fans are enjoying the glory and the good times. The ones that did the hard yards when City were an average first division (championship) club.

The new brand of twitter/instagram city fans however. The 12 year olds that used to "support" Barcelona, or Milan, can fuck right off. And keep fucking off until they get there. And then fuck off some more. And when they get back, they can fuck off again

They don't all hate us...
Very true. I like the Blades even more so for stopping manure last game. Can’t make assumptions on a number of posts on a forum. Not representative at all. I want a win today but after this game happy to see blades win as many games as possible if they can stay up.

You and I have very different definitions of bad!

Five pages of slagging us off in this thread, calling us all sorts. The arrogance to act like they don't have any arsehole fans is quite astounding.

Too blinkered to understand that the guy who complied the thread did so with an agenda in mind. Publish the bad comments, ignore the good, paint us as twats. Schoolboy stuff.
State of those quotes lol

We are all glory hunters.

Wow; what a bunch of utter cunts. I'd wager that I've supported City for longer (50 years+) than most of those have drawn breath. All credit to their team for a fantastic result at "TWGC" on wednesday. As for their fans; well, when they climb off their sisters/mothers/both, they can go and fuck themselves. Yorkshire, sorry, "YAAAAAAAWKSHAAAAA" gobshites.

I think we'll see a really similar team to what we've been putting out lately:

Ederson
Cancelo Stones Dias Zinchenko
Rodri
Gundogan Bernardo
Mahrez Sterling Foden

We might see Jesus in for Sterling, Fernandinho in for Rodri or Walker in for Cancelo. None of those would surprise me.

Clean sheet today is important. If we get it, Ederson's Premier League clean sheet ratio will stand at 50%, which is just staggering.

play the best team possible and try and win the game early and then think about taking off key players
pep did that the other night vs WBA got the game won and made changes that's the right way

The wind could be a bit of a leveler today, need to be careful of hoofball.
I hear you but I don't think Hoofball will benefit them much having seen Mcgoldrick and Sharp the other night.

They didn't actually play that way either, they tried to create their chances by breaking the high line with clever passes and movement.

Dias, Stones or Laporte should be pretty confident of winning their duels as they're not the biggest team in the league.

I don’t think Walker will get the nod ahead of Cancelo but agree with the rest of the team you’ve picked ..
I agree that Cancelo gets in ahead of Walker at the moment but its all about game time & Sheffield is a game to give some players a rest.

Breaking News.
Uefa have invoked rule 47bii.
This means that any goals more than 2 that City score today will be reallocated to a European side of their choosing.
A spokesman said: "Football is founded on solidarity. We do not agree with who scores wins. City must fulfil their societal obligation and share their goals with other clubs. City have started a war of goals with UEFA and we will do anything, no matter how ridiculous, to fulfil the desire for European dominance."
Barcelona, who under FFP have accumulated a debt of €2bn, need City's goals which may be swapped for Messi.
