What agenda thread? This is the media thread where we discuss the truth as reported by our beautiful media people.![]()
MARTIN SAMUEL: Barca cannot afford Eric Garcia let alone Lionel Messi
MARTIN SAMUEL - CHIEF SPORTS WRITER: Eric Garcia has said he would play for Barcelona for nothing. Given the latest news about their finances, he may have to.www.dailymail.co.uk
Thought this was possibly better positioned in the Agenda thread..........

The youthful J-Lingz, hatchet man Mcwhatshisname, a World Cup winner - plenty of talent to go round.......... ;-)The weird thing with this Sky love-in with Fernandes is that i can think of a number of City and non-city midfielders i would pick over him. He's the best of an awful midfield quintet at united.
Not surprised at all. If they have to report on city it will have a negative slant. Boycott the bbc.Just listening to 606 from last night, the sport bulletin just said, and I quote, "Manchester City just did enough to ensure they'll remain top of the table for now"
For now?
The woman reading it out sounded fucked off when she said it.
Was a weird way saying we're top. Bitter cunts.
I wish Martin Samual would go and work for another paper so I could read his articles again, I refuse to click on the mail nowadays, content is one reason and the acceptance of advertising the main reason, have you seen how many companies they have listed that will track your info, it is ridiculous.![]()

Apart from their attitude towards City, NFL was another reason I binned Sly as I resented paying for tedious sports I have no interest in, although I imagine they are the perfect cure for insomnia. The fact you are watching it shows how much damage lockdown has to answer for :)I've never been into NFL but watched the play offs this month and it piqued my interest. Started watching the nfl show on the Beeb which although having the excreble Dan Walker has 2 ex pro's on. They're typical exuberant yanks and their personalities really draw you in.
Why am I posting here rather than the NFL thread? Because the quality of the pundits in this is light years away from MOTD. These guys bring genuine insight and passion. They speak from the heart and are articulate.
Another example last season I seemed to watch a lot of American broadcasts on PL games. The burger ads did make me salivate I think. But the studio guests were mostly Lee Dixon who I find duller than a day in Parliament, Robbie Mustoe who did sod all as a player. And Robbie Earle ex Don's. He was terrific well spoken and gave considered opinions but genuinely enjoyed our play.
This season a lot of my streams have been BeIn. Only get a few minutes of build up with Andy Gray NdJ and furry wanker. Gray and Nige are pretty decent I think and always cut Keyes down to size. Just suffered 30 minutes of Warnock commentating on a pretty shit Copa Libertadores final. The guy genuinely knows less about football than a gerbil.
Years ago I used to follow games on the radio and the guy who literally was in a class of his own was Jimmy Armfield. He was knowledgeable and fair minded with a terrific understanding of the game. We often joke on the match threads that we're going to mute the idiots on commentary. The problem is that decent commentary and even rudimentary match analysis are as rare as hens teeth!
I actually feel nostalgic over Lynham or Moore as they were giants compared to today's pigmies. Will people feel nostalgic for Lineker tyler Wright darke Warnock or hoddle. I sincerely doubt it.
If we can become champions this season it will be our greatest achievement and will be done in spite of the febrile press certainly not because of any appreciation from them.
They are all as bad, unless the upcoming GB News has a sports section.I wish Martin Samual would go and work for another paper so I could read his articles again, I refuse to click on the mail nowadays, content is one reason and the acceptance of advertising the main reason, have you seen how many companies they have listed that will track your info, it is ridiculous.
I think you can still look on the Telegraph without the need to accept cookies but they are probably the only one left and I maybe wrong and have accepted cookies on that one by accident lolThey are all as bad, unless the upcoming GB News has a sports section.
I read the Telegraph but generally avoid the football section most days.I think you can still look on the Telegraph without the need to accept cookies but they are probably the only one left and I maybe wrong and have accepted cookies on that one by accident lol
I do their ff comp and their horse racing one at Cheltenham, which was probably why I think I may have accepted their cookies after all lolI read the Telegraph but generally avoid the football section most days.
No chance!Anyone in the press/media reporting that City are the first team ever to win 9 straight games in a month ?
They would have awarded Liverpool another trophy for that achievement. No chance!
Bet if the rags or dippers had done this the headline would be about the most successful month in the history of league football.
They are hurting sooo bad and are afraid we are the future.
why would any "professional" journalist downplay the quality of product they are trying to sell to their audience? isn't that, in effect, downplaying his own worth?Rob Draper(that snivelling rat) in the Daily United fanzine.
If the title race is compelling, the lead switching from team to team, then the general rule is that the football is probably of lower quality. Certainly in recent years, when Manchester City and Liverpool have dominated, we have been privileged to witness some of the finest football seen in the Premier League.
That’s clearly not the case this season. Manchester City are four points clear the top of the Premier League. And they were fine here against Sheffield United Nothing more. Just fine. No superlatives need to be employed, If they are steeling themselves for a third title win in four season, then it will be the most underwhelming one yet.

City win, stay top, and extend their PL lead.

A one hour special on sky sports news just been advertised for 9am tomorrow.Anyone in the press/media reporting that City are the first team ever to win 9 straight games in a month ?
The only hope is that with players voting, that toothy cheating snivelling cvnt may not be voted poty ahead of Dias who is clearly the best and most influential player in the league this season. His last 3 goals.
Free kick v Liverpool won by a clear dive by Cavani
penalty v Villa won by a clear dive by Pogba
penalty v WBA which he missed but Var awarded a retake
Based on all the times I used to watch him on Sunday Supp over the years, you’ve described that journalist perfectly.Rob Draper(that snivelling rat) in the Daily United fanzine.

2 horse race ,,, more peak red rum V an athsmatic 3 legged donkey this year lolNo news stories in the Mail on Sunday's online pages until you reach a small piece several pages down about us grinding out another win. We're not newsworthy. The headlines are all about glorifying that slippy night club assailant doing well in a Scottish two horse race
It’s also strange because he basically dismisses the goal, says we only had one shot on target but then cites other shots that prove that his assertion is wrong.Simon Stone's match report on the Beeb
Aside from Gabriel Jesus' close-range strike from a Ferran Torres cross, an instinctive header from Bernardo Silva - created by a stray Oliver Norwood header - was City's only effort on target until Aaron Ramsdale denied Oleksandr Zinchenko and then Aymeric Laporte from the corner that followed.
What a weird sentence.
Jesus was relatively quiet and only burst into life in the final minute, when he did the right thing in opening his body up to shoot at Ramsdale, only to steer his effort straight at the Blades keeper.
When was a full-length dive to tip the ball around the post, a straight at the keeper shot?
Straight at the keeper means he didn't have to move, fucking prick.
