In my leaflet they gave me it says covid19 was first identified in late 2019, so was right it was about earlier than has been said.I bet we all brought it back from bergamo, as well as elsewhere
The clue's in the 19.

I know there has been loads published on the infection and mortality rates by age of course, and by ethnic group I think, but what about socio-economic or class groups? Has that been a clear discriminator too? I’ve read ‘opinion pieces’ on it, but don’t recall seeing it expressed statistically.

Wales vaccination update:

First doses 403, 463 - 25, 263 given yesterday v 15, 947 day before (under reported data issue two dates likely more even)

Second doses 786 - 36 yesterday v 33 day before.

When was the last time you were asked by anyone what class or SE group you belong to? A confidential census could imply it, but as it is confidential, and randomly adjusted so no one is indentified, it won't be any use to match to medical records.

I doubt they have any data on it.

Automatic immunity if you're called Rupert I believe.

Bear that in mind.

A red faced employee in Palm Beach, Florida accidentally turned off the fridge containing 1100 Pfizer vaccines about to be administered that day rendering them useless.

Could happen to anyone I know but the best way to turn that into a positive would be to show how one little thing you might decide to do in your life that appears trivial at the time can - in this pandemic - have terrible consequences on the lives of others - potentially your loved ones - that you never anticipated.

Use this not to attack the worker who will feel terrible enough but as a cautionary tale to all those who take gambles with their own life and the lives of others day after day yet the consequences of them they may never get to see as visibly as this but could still turn out to be equally tragic.

Messaging needs to take these opportunities to shock the unthinking into actually thinking about the outcomes of what they do every day.

What age groups / categories are they up to now with the vaccines?

Was talking to a colleague on Friday. Her parents, who live in London, are in their 80s and have underlying conditions. They have not been contacted yet.

My mum, who lives in Robin Hood Bay is 68 but has COPD and has had pneumonia on two occasions and a brain haemorrhage. She's tough. Brought up in Ardwick in the 50s. She just got a call this morning and is going for her jab tomorrow.

Media reporting a new UK study about to be published that shows the vaccine in the UK may have created a 36% fall in infections reported already as that is the drop found in the over 80s in the report.

If true this should soon be obvious in a week or two in the over 80 death numbers - always the biggest group.

The study also reportedly shows other age groups have fallen too and that just one dose is giving this protection.

Need to see the details and get comments from the experts in these things in here.

But sounds very hopeful and fits the falling cases, positivity levels, first signs of falls in death numbers and the big falls in hospital patient and ventilator numbers in all nations and in England over the past week.

Though deciding if it is the vaccine or lockdown or both and in what proportion each will be difficult I expect.

Well, whilst they have us in lockdown now's the time to answer those questions.
