Messi’s contract at Barca revealed

On the flip side Messi generates more income for Barca in shirt sales, sponsorships ect than his yearly wage so the club will thi

Que ? i watched plenty of la liga when i used to spend six months a year at my apartment in Marbella (COVID is a bastard :) , i did watch Malaga regularly with loads of other UK/Malaga fans , until they financially imploded , but i am sure you are trying to make some ridiculous and invalid point , carry on.

Was Dave Hatch one of them

He was self financing without a doubt, but if he signs for us, he signs as a 34yr old who has never played outside of Barca.

The premier league is a tough place to play football, and for a man with a young family, moving to Manchester will not be easy.

A move to New York and the MLS would be a gold mine for all involved, but not so sure about our side of things.
Self financing is all fine and good but, like you looking outside the box it could be so much different.

5 year contract with City maybe the first 3 years followed by 2 in New York which in year one 'self finances' itself, year two doesn't beak even, year three costs us a fortune and by that stage pisses off other players with what he's on, year four goes to USA CFG gets a little bump in cash as he'sin anew market, year five see year three.

If he does come he's in no need of any money, so may just come for the challenge/play with Kun/managed by Pep lol in fact he could probably afford to buy half of barca with his bank account.

I personally think he shit the bed in the summer for what the second or third time and won't be coming & we should be at best waiting for him to come to us not chasing someone with limited time at the top of the game around like a love struck teenager.

We are 18 months into a Puma contract , so that eliminates your opinion , and shirt sponsors deals are far more than the two years Messi will be playing in our shirt. So yes i do understand how contracts work , it appears you do not understand we are less than half way through our current contract.
Nike were prepared to double their contract in 2013, which was also part-way through.

after getting paid that amount for the last 5 years and 15 years of being the best paid player in the world
money is not be a problem for messi the hunger and age is ?? any club willing to pay 500.000 a week for messi are daft ? now did manchester city offer or matched that we will never know. but the one big thing is ? if we did manchester city would be playing a silly game and gambling on our future

messi is not a football player anymore he is a person product a one man business a media market leader and sells shirts and merchandise. football is 2nd or 3rd on the list he brings to a club. the club will only get or make a small percentage on the back of messi ? its around 90% foundation messi 10% left to split between club and others

the amount of money going out of football into players banks accounts are crazy ? clubs make so little profit from the playing football on the pitch its now gone the other way ? clubs are going broke and running big debts and players are now richer than the club they play for and that can not be right or good for the game

This is a fair point but I always think who deserves the money more than the players? The agents, owners, PR, marketing people?

Added to the fact that for years footballers were treated like shit under the retain and transfer system, leading to a situation of some wonderful players (England 66 team) having to sell their medals to avoid penury. The owner's of football teams who had the power for long enough were disgraceful in how they used it.

I would like to see more money going to young lads who fall out of the game/academies and also for professional in the lower leagues. I've had a few mates play at L2 level an the transition from playing to retirement was hugely difficult with not much support.

I wonder if Joe Root is on that sort of wedge? He'd be worth every last penny of it, if he was.

;-)

I absolutely guarantee you if we sign Messi we will start to renew our current sponsorships(Puma included) as all of them would love to have Messi promoting their brands. Also new sponsors would be falling over themselves to do a deal with us such is his commercial power

how about the football clubs being the one that builds a future instead of fuck it there is no tomorrow and spend money they don't have and run up big debts

if you look at the reported debt of barcelona that is what messi would have made for the years playing for them

This is what happens when the greatest player of all time meets modern footballing finance, an obscene amount of money for one individual that amounts to the national debt of a small country. It doesn’t seem that long ago when there was huge uproar at the £50,000 a week (£2.5million a year) contract for Roy Keane.
Fifty grand a week,
And he scored for Real Madrid....

I remember the uproar.

How have barca passed ffp

Three things strike me about these reports:

1. Is Messi costing Barcelona or is he bringing in more than he earns? Both statements can’t be true.

2. Let’s assume he’s self funding. The others certainly aren’t and their wages are both obscene and insane.

3. Yet another example of how FFP is nothing more than the cartel clubs’ dildo.

Fcuk UEFA, fcuk the Barca big top and keep your ageing circus performer. This is not football as we know it.

Sergio been at city 10 years and is under the radar regarding personal accolades like a David Silva.
Agreed, but that was there choice, both Kun and Silva like the quite life and utter and total respect for that.

2013, seven years ago, big difference to today.

Messi 7 years ago would have been the greatest signing in the history of football, a player at his absolute peak.

To be honest, I dont know much about the finances of signing Messi, but why are barca in such a mess with him on their books?

Anyway, I believe that the average age of our front four v sheff utd was less than 23 years old. This is what I had assumed that we were about now, nurturing our own and signing young talent to take the club forward needing only minor "tweaking" to a squad that is both successful and sustainable. Ensuring a bright future and a club model to make the haters squirm with envy.

Messi has been the goat imo, but I cant help but have reservations regarding his signing for us. Yes he would probably be more at home here than current barca with Pep and our squad to play alongside, and could see some great football involved, and it would boil some piss too.

On the other hand, its a bit like buying someone on the strenght of their past rather than the strenght of their future, I would rather we had bust the bank for him 5-8 years ago when in his prime.

At the end of the day there are cases to be made for both scenarios and I do trust our clubs owners/staff to make the right decision as they are more "privvy" to the relevant info in this matter.

If we do sign him though, I fear we had better brace ourselves for the biggest "hate onslaught" in the history of football.
Can’t be any worse than the current “hate onslaught” that we are subjected to on a daily basis.

We should not bother buying him

Go and get someone like Haaland. He is a player who can replace Sergio. A player who can be with us for a good few years
You're sat there chucking one into a sock. You look out of your window and Halle Berry walks past with a sign on her back saying 'Sock this big boy' Do you..

A: Carry on making foot molds?

B: Jump out that front window quicker than Ryan Giggs hearing a key in the front door?

Which if FFP was actually about protecting the health of the game, then it should be stopping the accrual of such debt but instead is used to protect a cartel of small clubs.

Barcelona are in this position because they have been offering crazy wages and transfer fees. De Jong on 300k a week is madness, the fee they gave Liverpool for Coutinho was insane. That is not hindsight, Coutinho good player that he is/was is never worth that money. Dembele and Griezmann are other examples. Nobody is forcing them to make those transfers. I would be interested in knowing that even if they had won two extra CL and La Liga would this even then have been financially viable, would it have made much difference to the debt.

The structure of that club with presidential elections is also a big factor and encourages short term thinking. If you have the gig for a few years, do you really want to be known as the president who lost Messi. Much better to be the president who spunked 150 million on a shiny new player.

How old is Halle Berry at the time, is she past it? I need all the details.

This guy for the price is not worth it
