I've made no secret of the fact that I don't want him here. Haven't done since the first time he flirted with us and then surprise surprise signed another new contract.

I'm not too worried about the financial side of any possible deal though. We are owned, run, and managed by, some of the very smartest football and business brains in the world.

i think that figure of £250.000 back then is wrong or maybe basic pay even if he does not play ?

the messi deal to manchester city last summer was reported at £1million pound a week. even the media was saying the first million pound a week player in football ? the deal touted was 3 years at manchester city and 2 years at new york city and the cost would have been £500million to the city group ??

crazy to think a 33 year old can demand such a deal without any guarantees of playing every week and winning titles and silverware ? city would be best to leave it it alone and walk away from it. even pep said messi should stay at barcelona

When a player makes a load of money I presume that they have designs to use a big chunk of it in an altruistic way. Like a sports school back home rather than a private jet. And that they'd prefer control over that money coming into the club rather than the club itself.

However if the wages are contributing to the club suffering (even if it is through its own mismanagement) it does seem so "robinhoodish".

I think the Barca fans would have happily accepted seeing that contract a year or two ago but now it will be hard to not feel hurt by Messi as well as the club. More so Messi. So job done by the club if they did leak it for the purposes of getting rid of him.

Hope we never end up with such shenanigans at City. It seems that any club not owned by a "king" is run by a rabble.

Is it not possible to assess his value to just City as a football player cf say KDB then assess his financial value via CFG?

Surely the whole Holding Company value of CFG has been put in place for such an event. They control his financial value while City reward his value to our team.
