It isn’t stupid, the media have to very careful to report properly researchedvand balanced information, not least to give people confidence in the vaccine.
The last day or two it hasn’t been balanced, or responsible. Jeremy Vine in his ‘ if I’m not making you miserable or scaring you to death, I’m not doing my job’ show today was a prime example of terrible unbalanced reporting of the vaccine and variants. He wasn’t alone.
Hopefully Van Tams more reasoned thoughts will be better reported.
The media love bad news and sadly some people lap it up and ignore the positives.

England hospital data

As I suggested yesterday numbers rose as it is Monday. Very common.

But by only 29 to 23, 020. Last Monday (last day it went up not down) it was by 427.

It will hopefully fall again for rest of week.

Ventilated patients also down 67 to 2980 - first sub 3000 total for over 4 weeks.

Regionally:

East, London, North West, South East and South West FELL by small numbers anyway

North West from 3270 to 3248 - was last Monday 4017

Midlands and NE & Yorkshire up a little - the latter by 93 - biggest rise or fall of the day.

Most places were also down by 20 or so in ventilators - but the North West increased for the second day running but by 3 to 349 - it was 370 last Monday so down week to week.

This message is buried away on the Gov UK site (found it by accident).

Just a cautionary note about death numbers tomorrow:-

Daily counts of deaths in England rely on multiple data sources. On 6 February 2021 there was a delay in receiving this information from one of these sources. This might have a small impact on the total number of deaths reported on that date. This delay will be reflected on the numbers published on 9 February 2021

It is a useful new part of the site and also explains that there was a glitch in Scottish case data yesterday and so today included that as catch up. Which mitigates the apparent rising data over past 2 days.

Holding out for the Johnson & Johnson one, just the one injection not 3 within 9 months like they are suggesting. In my late 60s good health live in the country side don't go in shops or garage's just walk my dog away from it all.
You'll be lucky to get the Sputnik, with that attitude.
