Running thread

new to this thread - signed up for Chester half marathon ( september ) as hitting a big birthday then ....Did the gt nth run a few years back..... but just started back and third run out calf muscle has popped.

Any advice on how long to leave it and exercises to strengthen before venturing back out there ?

Foam roller. Give it a few weeks then start on one of these, usually work a treat.

I went in ballot but no joy for 6th successive year ,Have done Mcr twice but would like to try London.Might look an overseas half say Amsterdam
Argh unlucky mate, Im one of those smarmy twats that got in on the first go of the ballot last year.
I still cant see it going ahead this year, october a busy month for marathons, if they go ahead, ive got manchester and london ti do

49.59 is breaking 50 mins. 48.54 is smashing the 50 mins barrier. Well done.
Cheers! I try not to look at my watch especially first part of a run, but it felt so slow and sluggish and yet out clearly wasn't. The 50 minute barrier has been a real curse, so many times finished on 50.05 or around that, target is to get it down to 46/47 now

Anyone on here in the ballot for the london marathon? Results are out today
Good for age time is the way to go. If normal life returns you can have a few goes at it over the years and the target time increases as you get older. I managed to qualify at Manc marathon in 2013.

I run every day.
Still feel desperate, depressed and fucked off most days.
The Goverment doesn't realise the mental health impact of this pandemic there too busy being killjoys and locking us up indefinitely.
