Breaking records/stats thread

Do we know the 200 definitely includes the wolves, chelsea and liverpool games as wins rather than draws in his tally? i.e has he actually won more than 200 games?

it is fucking bullshit. I don't mind them counting it however they want but being specific about it, and not ignoring the other one.

We hold the record for the most wins in a row in all competitions at 20. We also hold the record for the most wins in a row in all competitions within 90 minutes. We also possibly hold the record for the most wins within 3.7 minutes, if anyone wants to be enough of a dobber to count those too.
Definitely includes the games won after 90 mins as wins in the 200.

Not disputing that, but the same sites are saying Guardiola has won 200 and saying we broke the record last night. My point is if If Guardiola has won 200 the record is 20 not 15.

I 100% agree.

But 'City still hold the record of 20 consecutive wins in all competitions from two seasons ago' won't be getting the same number of clicks as 'City match all time record' and 'City set new record'.

We hold both as far as i'm concerned. Most consecutive wins in all competitions, and most consecutive wins in all competitions within 90 minutes.

Fucking hell they've got their own one? I suppose it being Wales there's probably an RSPS as well?
How the fuck do you know of this very secretive society? There are only 213.5 of us (the .5, is a long story) who are sworn to the utmost secrecy on pain of death.

Are you a member of the underground perverted organisation known as “The Really Sexy Preseli Sheep” ?

It’s all a minefield so I’ve posted this on my blog which I hope resolves some of the issues. https://gjfootballarchive.com/2021/02/11/consecutive-win-records-facts-or-fiction/
I include within that a link to a precedent at another club too. To me there’s a simple solution to it all.

I really wanted this record, had to listen to 5 live in work and now I’m home just flicking through match reports all mentioned the 15 game run , and had a moment just thinking
Manchester City football club have just won 15 straight games !! The same club who suffered Halifax, Shrewsbury...etc relegation to the third division and all the other dark times we’ve had to endure . I don’t take anything at city for granted never ever but blimey this is Manchester City Football Club doing this !!!
Absolute madness.
I get what you’re saying but you’re talking like we’re some little club who’ve found success or something.

That era was just a few decades out of 13 decades of the club, it was an anomaly compared to the rest of our history where this football club has always been right up there in the top half-dozen in the all-time league table, most seasons in the top flight, all-time finals appearances, all-time average attendances; while all-time record attendances were ours, with us having about 12 of the top 25 all-time attendances in the country; and always in the top 10 for trophies won...

If, back in the 1970s, it had been City that went on that brilliant run of success that Liverpool had through the 70s and 80s, nobody would have been surprised because we were, and had been for a long time, one of the biggest names in English football.

For me, what was absolute madness was what happened from ~1982 onwards to ~2007. Not what’s happening now!

We are now just having an era that Liverpool and then United had... hopefully with more to come and eventually with our time coming in the Champions League... but breaking all records set before us in the meantime!

213.5 and counting, that's all I'll say.

Gary, far be it from me to correct you mate, but the League Cup final victory v Liverpool was Manuel. Chelsea was Pep.

Also, it’s hypocritical that OPTA recognise wins on penalties for Arsenal, but not City in the 20 game sequence eh? And of course it was that Arsenal bell end Michael Cox that was so vociferous in denying our 20 game run, even quoting, would you believe OPTA :-). It’s 20 for me.

If you exclude the Wolves game you also have to exclude the others won outside of. 90 mins, Leicester x 2, Liverpool and Chelsea so yes a few short.
To my mind, a win is a win. Extra time, penalties, whatever. To the man in the street it's a win.
Statistics, semantics, none of this really matters. A win is a win.

20 or 15, whatever. We hold all these records, but the recognition is close to zero. It’s probably why record statistics interest me as much as players or managers being voted for whatever competition that has been created. As in close to nowt.

I vote for another decade, winning what we have been winning. And that’s a lot, impressively so. I‘m sure our fans will recognise it and isn’t that all that matters?

Brain Fart! I’ve corrected it now. We all have off days.

I am starting to doubt we’ve actually broken any records as no mention of it on the radio this morning....

Just how much must it be hurting those fuckers to not mention it on national news.
They’re watching the best team of all time in the premier league and just can’t bring themselves to say it.
I pray we win the quadruple this year. Let’s see them try to keep a lid on that one!
