Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

Clean sheet without Dias. We clean sheet FC now boys.
I think to play that way and get the clean sheet without Dias is great
It means we are not reliant on him, we’re just a great unit at the moment With three top class centre backs
Zinchenko and cancelo Off so much control, my worry is we rely on walker (ok against lesser teams) or mendy in big games

Yep and that game will give Laporte a lot of confidence, don’t know if it’s the stones combination will Dias and Laporte be a good partnership

The spuds players surrounding the ref when he awarded the pen. I thought they were supposed to be carding players who did that! Kane ran half the pitch to remonstrate and Lamela puts his hand on refs shoulder to get his point across. Ref should have yellow carded at least those two

Has that odious **** Lamela landed yet after his two footed studs up out of control lunge? The one that wasn’t deemed worthy of even a yellow card, or a VAR intervention or even a comment from the commentator? Fucking disgusting

He was a lucky boy yesterday, a thought we should have targeted him a bit more as he was giving it out to Jesus towards the end of the 1st half. Turns out Spurs were that shit it was pretty easy to despatch the 11 players they had on the pitch.

Another awesome performance, pretty much everyone operating at a consistently high level, an absolute pleasure to watch. I'm always wary of Spurs even though they rely so heavily on the Kane/Son combo and those two being completely anonymous yesterday was a fantastic testament to the work rate of the whole team. Gundo looks like the player we first signed before he sustained that injury, Bernardo is just a joy to watch, Rodri immense and Raheem showed yesterday why he is so effective, it's been too long since we saw him taking on defenders with such pace and determination. Defensively we've given Pep so many options it must give him a headache deciding who to leave out. Cancelo has shown why he was such an upgrade on Danilo and what can you say about Zinchenko? The guy who wouldn't 'go away' now looks so confident, so comfortable on the ball, so much better positionally and clearly has the trust of his team mates. I'm delighted for him and John Stones ... did I mention Dias and Laporte?

Shout out to laporte yesterday
Didn't have a lot to do. But the reverse fixture kane pulled him out of position too many times and looked like he lost his place on the back of that performance.
Hes not played a lot of football since then and he slotted back in there with easy
What a position to be in now with games coming thick and fast 3 world class centre backs to rotate

I was saying to my mate yesterday, it wasnt that long ago if Vinny was out you just knew we'd get beat. I thought it might be a repeat of that now with Dias but Stones and Laporte stepped up to the plate

Rodri, Gundy and Zinchenko are making mockery of the unhealthy obsession with pace. Dias too. He isn't quick like Kounde or Kouilibaly, but is better than them.

It's part and parcel of Pep's philosophy that intelligence and technique are more important than pace and physicality. Of course, physical attributes matter but intelligence is an understated quality.

I watched dele alli he is a snide little shit every 'tackle' he made sure he left abit in. Not enough for the ref to take action but enough to try and wind up a City player. I thought the one on the touch line Torres might react but he didn't.
Horrible little twat.

I think a bit more winding up would have done the trick. It would have been easier if the ref hadn’t bottled the yellow for studs up and continuing to argue with Gabby.

One little thing I would point out , after another great performance. The free kick when Kane hit the bar, I would always have a six footer at the end of the wall, Gundogan even jumping couldn't reach it.

I am glad pep is going to work on penalties, hit it hard is the first criteria, know where you are going to hit it days before the game, and practice that penalty.
Who that man is, well, over to you pep.

You’re not wrong there mate, FFS genuinely is the elephant in the room now. Good that Torres got on before him yesterday, hopefully penny has dropped with Pep too.

Another clinical performance. City at their best. Pep at his best.

We're living through history and we don't even realise it because it's sneaking up on us.

Hope Gundo's injury is okay.

Biggest thing from the performance was Stones/Laporte clean sheet.
Gundo didn’t look too pissed off, was still smiling, I’d guess it was a twinge and he’s playing so well he personally didn’t want to risk it. I’d be surprised if he played on Weds but reckon he will be back on the weekend.

Was interesting to see Stones step up and be the leader at the back, thought Laporte looked a bit shaky, he didn’t want to dwell on the ball and I reckon if you watched it back and counted the number of times he just put his foot through it and hoofed it aimlessly you‘d hit double figures. But hopefully getting the clean sheet and the monkey off his back of dropping errors against Spurs will make him feel better, I do expect him back on the bench against Everton though.

Doesn’t help when the ref is encouraging them to leave one on us.
