It wouldn't surprise me if some of this comes down to how Aguero finishes the season. We've basically never proactively replaced one of our big guys...if Sergio (somehow) comes back, looks really good, and wants to stay another year or two are we really telling him no? Unfortunately I think the time has come, but I'm not sure if the club sees it the same way.

Lukaku has been great for Inter this year...he's leading Serie A in goals and is a big part of why they're top of the league. He's not going cheap.

Lukaku this season has 22 goals and 4 assists in 29 games. It’s definitely impressive. Four goals in the UCL.

People would cream themselves if we got Lautaro because he has a cool name and has that element of the unknown about him as he’s never played in the PL before. But in the exact same team, he has 43 goals in 116 games - HALF the strike rate of Lukaku.

He wouldn’t be my top choice, but he’s hardly a donkey.

I think you're misunderstanding me. Inter paid £73m for him with a sell on clause included. They're not selling him for less than that and would probably want a premium given how important he is for them. If we bought Lukaku he'd end up being quite expensive.

Maybe the transfer can’t happen. People have been saying he is staying at dortmund next season before moving to his preferred club for the release clause.
