All domestic cups pay peanuts.

I think it was between €30m and €40m, total prize pool was just under €600m compared to €3bn or so for the PL.

I'm a big fan of stats but you've really misinterpreted those.

Firstly, all it says is that when Messi presses he's the most successful presser percentage wise. This is a good thing in fairness.

In terms of the number of presses, he's 3rd in the list behind Salah and Rashford.
In terms of presses per 90, he's behind those two and Neymar. He's ahead of Ronaldo and Mbappé (who both have numbers which are really, really low).

Per 90, Messi would be behind every City player excluding the centre backs in number of presses, although he'd be high up in terms of success rate.


So it looks like he's an efficient presser, but he doesn't press too often.


As an aside, an interesting insight into City this season shows as a team we press a lot less, but particularly up front. Jesus and Mahrez (yes, really) were two of our hardest working pressing players last season but this season the forwards are all pressing a lot less compared to the midfielders.
 
Looks like the PSG news about Messi is nonsense, this guy acording to Hagrid is really close to Messi's entourage so hes the most reliable when it comes to Messi news.





Also to the people who are saying they dont want Messi and they want someone else the club wont listen if you remember our owner is obssessed with Messi ever since he took over us hes wanted him here. So if Messi is available hes going to go all out I think to get him.

That’s what I got out of it too. He is an effective presser in a poorly functional team. His need to press next season, if he plays for us, should be less as we have more of the ball.

With his footballing super brain, he is probably aware as to when to press and when not to.

Yeah this season we've started using forwards as pass blockers more than pressers, so it should be more up his alley.

However it probably rules him out of a midfield role, as those guys are the real workhorses this season.
