So what you are saying is despite a multitude of NDAs, two know-nowt Duncans and a journalist sacked by the Sun for making up stories, this trio still managed to gain access to the precise financial package submitted to his dad Jorge last May ;)

Ian McGarry, the gift which never stops giving...who can forget the Pep is 99.9999 per cent the next boss of Manchester City, just 24 hours before he joins Bayern Munich!

#FreeBritney!

Well obviously you can’t legislate for the prestigious investigative journalistic talent of that nature so yeah I’m on board with that [emoji23]

For me mbappe will extend at PSG to put a move to Madrid off one year
Neymar likewise bit not sure anyone really wants him
Aguero I suspect may get a year but only if he wants it
That leaves city to go big on messi and Kane/Haaland- hopefully Haaland
Either way I suspect this is the year to hammer the rebuild while on top

He's wumming now.

I completely get why some Blues don't want to take the risk but this signing isn't just about what he will bring to the field of play.

Off it, it finally gives City a seat at the top table and puts us on the final journey towards becoming the biggest club in the world.

All the trophies we have won, the needle has only been shifted so far, but Messi brings a kudos and fanbase that will stay with us for generations to come.

Supplement that with even more trophies and the biggest ones at that, we become a global superpower.

Don’t forget messi hasn’t won the World Cup, carabao cup or fa cup
This is his chance to tick them boxes off!

Interesting that you try to control what others post by posting this....its like you are trying to put others off before thy post their opinions.
Most certainly not.

I freely admit my views are currently in the minority in this thread.

I strongly suspect that might change though when Messi turns around - again - over summer and doesn't come anywhere near City.

Until this time next year when the whole charade will start again. For the umpteenth time.

Of all the stupid arguments, genuinely, the age one is the one that annoys me the most.

Lewandowski is the highest scoring player in the world, he's about to turn 33.

Ronaldo has scored 88 goals in 115 games since joining Juventus at 34.

Messi at 32 scored 30 goals and got 25 assists last season. He's already got 20 this season.

Benzema is 33 is scoring more in his 30's than he ever did before.

Jamie Vardy won the golden boot at 33 last season.

Suarez and Messi are competing for the La Liga golden boot at 33 and 34.

Why do people think world class players become octogenarians as soon as they cross 30? Just look at what he's actually done in the last 18 months. It's not going to just disappear the moment he signs for City.

He'll be here for 2 years, maybe 3. Like Ronaldo at Juventus he will still score 30+ a season.
Aguero is “finished” at 32 apparently too

And maybe an expanded North stand? :-)

When I see Messi at Barca It reminds me a little bit of how Yaya was before pep.

Yaya was god and he couldn’t be touched, he played the game at a walking pace and slowed our game down to that pace. He wasn’t in great shape and we still was looking at him to carry us in the big games.
He couldn’t do it, for example the champions league semi vs Madrid.

Messi at Barca is god, he plays at a walking pace and at times does slow barca down.
Nobody is in a position to tell him to run more or give me.

However when pep came to city he made Yaya lose weight, made him work harder than he had in the seasons before.

I may be slightly optimistic but a change could be what Messi needs, he would work with a coach that respects him but at the same time won’t be scared to say your not working hard enough, or you need to run more.

From everything Iv read about Messi and heard, he is insanely competitive, I can’t see he would accept coming to the prem and being poor, I suspect he would step up to the challenge.

something in the air talkshite laughing about messi wanting 5 year deal at next club when he cant break into a trot at 33
which stupid club going to offer that |||

just maybe one with tenuous links to one in MLS

And if West Ham took Antonio out of their team, they would probably be fighting relegation again ;)

Barca has only remained moderately competitive in the last three years because Messi has chosen to stick around while the ship has been sinking.

Messi has been the constant, which tells you that everything that has come in since has been bang average.

The guy deserves to stop carrying an entire club on his back.

It says everything now about City as a club that he wouldn't have to do that here.

So a guy who still scores 30-plus a season, isn't dragged down by politics and is surrounded by players who can make arguably the greatest player feel like he doesn't have to do it all himself, makes City a terrifying proposition for all our opponents.

Our bringing him to a team like ours, where he isn't the only main player, but a top player, surrounded by other top players allows him to keep the moments of magic coming from a once in a generation talent. We'd be doing football a favour!

Never judge players on international duty ,it tells you nothing about how they play for their clubs
It’s the biggest stages where you see the cream rise to the top. If he performs, then we move.

Why would he play at the Euros?
I know he’s getting on mate and he’s underperformed so far this season, but he’s still above and beyond his peers. He has to play.

Just to add to this however..

The one, the ONE, positive even I can take from our signing Messi this summer would be that after (likely) winning the title, and quite possible one or more of the league, fa, and European cups, can you imagine the consternation and gut wrenching explosion of anger and fear in the boardrooms of anfield and old Trafford when the signing was announced?
Not to mention the terraces of those red wankers.

And just imagine if we then followed up with Haaland on a nice long 5 or 6 year deal as well.

Even curmudgeonly old me can appreciate the gloriousness of such a scenario.
