It’s the biggest stages where you see the cream rise to the top. If he performs, then we move.

I know he’s getting on mate and he’s underperformed so far this season, but he’s still above and beyond his peers. He has to play.

And if West Ham took Antonio out of their team, they would probably be fighting relegation again ;)

Barca has only remained moderately competitive in the last three years because Messi has chosen to stick around while the ship has been sinking.

Messi has been the constant, which tells you that everything that has come in since has been bang average.

The guy deserves to stop carrying an entire club on his back.

It says everything now about City as a club that he wouldn't have to do that here.

So a guy who still scores 30-plus a season, isn't dragged down by politics and is surrounded by players who can make arguably the greatest player feel like he doesn't have to do it all himself, makes City a terrifying proposition for all our opponents.

Would you acknowledge from your experience that there could be potential pitfalls and hazards.Even if his football remains at the level you believe it to be.
Living in Manchester, The media goldfish bowl. Not being a bit to leave his house. Family issues. Negative coverage from the press, which you best know will follow.
I hope it all goes flawlessly, but unlike some who think "what possibly could go wrong" I can see certain possibilities that could happen.
I do think it is strange that he wants to find a new horizon at this stage in his career after being a homebird for so long.

Forget his stupid release clause, Messi is still a £100m player who we can sign for £0.

Lionel FUCKING Messi for £0

Who cares what his wages are? It’s not my money.

I don’t think it’s a case of Haaland or Messi I personally think we’ll try for both, but for all these people saying Messi won’t hack it, what guarantees are there that Haaland would? There aren’t. You take a risk. Messi at £0is a risk well worth fucking taking.

If the question is do you want to the chance to watch the best footballer to ever walk on to a pitch play in a Manchester City shirt, then the answer is YES.

There are actually people who don’t want to watch the best player EVER, play in the best city team we’ve EVER had, under the best coach we’ve EVER had. For 1 or 2 seasons it could be the absolute pinnacle of watching Manchester City.

*plus wages

You maybe missed my point.

By about 12 thousand kilometres.

C'mon, man, seriously?

Jamie fucking Vardy scored 23 Premier League goals last year at the age of 33!!!

Even big nose Ibra scored 17 in 28 at the age of 36 in a shite United team
He's wumming now.
Not winning just my opinion.
Leicester are “the Jamie Vardy team “

and United played to big Nose strengths under mourhino.

will he become the look for Messi team if he comes???

I hope not .

already think we are better without kdb in the team as we look for him to create or whip a cross in to much

Most certainly not.

I freely admit my views are currently in the minority in this thread.

I strongly suspect that might change though when Messi turns around - again - over summer and doesn't come anywhere near City.

Until this time next year when the whole charade will start again. For the umpteenth time.
whether he trns up or not is not the argument....you are calling people fanboys if they disagree with you and by that trying to control peoples responces.

Not to be rude but seriously....the media goldfish bowl? Not being able to leave his house?! Negative press coverage?!

You realise who you're takling about? He's been a worldwide household name since he was 19. You think he just goes for walks around Barcelona City centre? You've never heard of Marca, or Sport, two massive newspapers entirely dedicated to being Pro Real Madrid and anti-Barcelona?

There is no bigger goldfish bowl than being the best player of all time in a place like Barcelona where football and national identity are entirely merged.

Pep has said so many times how much worse the pressure is at barcelona. This will be a holiday for Messi and family.

Do you think that Pep wont be able to incorperate Messi into his team...do you think that IF he comes that wont have been taken into consideration like it is with EVERY signing?.....you seem to thikn we are trying to sign him just becuase he is the GOAT and going into this blindly...no one knows Messi better than Pep and Txixi so if w are going for him then its becuase those 2 believe he will fit into the team and make us better.

IF we sign him its becuase Pep and Txixi believe Messi can improve the team...

Will he be the best finisher at the club - Yes - better than Aguero and certainly better than any of the other forwards we have
Will he be a better penalty taker than anyone else - yes - Not hard that is it considering there is serious consideration into letting Ederson take them at present!
Will he be the best dribbler at the club - yes...Foden, B. Silva and Sterling are all very good BUT are a step below messi -
Will he be the best at set pieces - absolutely

Do you think the likes of Foden, B. Silva and even KDB and other or experiencd players arent ging to look forward to learning from the Best there ever has been?

What about attracting other players.....Hey Mr Haaland....you can come and play and train with Messi or you can choose to go and train and play with Harry Maguire and Rashford....
Haaland - Hmmmmm - let me think about it for a .....ok Ill come

McManaman on a free after winning 2x CL scoring in one, and taking a cut in wages from £66k to £40k a week was seen as a good signing across the board until he played.

If Messi does come to a club he has had no interest in, it will be as a pension boost as we are offering the highest vale contract.

It is probably like Aalsmeer, any bidders come in when the price is right as his stock falls.

Thank you for not being rude, a sign of maturity.
Messi and I are quite similar in that we both have a house alongside the Mediterranean. ( Similarity ends) take it from me the media coverage in Spain for Messi is like you cannot imagine, it is 100 % positive. Gutter press will not be so kind here. This is the first time in 20 years I have not spent the Winter( or parts of) in Spain, it is a factor, we will see.
I realise many are desperate for the Worlds best player to come, and therefore are unwilling to consider any possible negative consequences. It is reassuring that you for one are not being rude to anyone who might consider them.)

Sorry but I know this is not true. Just 2 weeks ago the biggest paper in the country leaked his contract and ran 7 (SEVEN) articles and opinion pieces attacking him and blaming all of Barcelona's downfall on him.

Marca always attack him on behalf of Madrid.

He almost left 5 years ago because he felt persecuted in Spain.

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a duck...

There's a good chance it might be a duck.
