For OVER 2 years? Messi got the Ballon d’Or in 2019, didn’t he? And hit „double-double” by 20+ goals and 20+ assists in the 19/20 season (did anybody do that?)
Also, he was the top scorer in Europe for 3 consecutive seasons recently.
So tired of those doubting Messi.
Where have you been for the last decade?
That’s a testament to how good he was but he’s not been able to burst away from defenders from the halfway line in the way he could for over 2 years.During the last year his decline is has accelerated and no doubt will continue to do so. Nobody (with the possible exception of you) loves watching Messi more than me and he’s obviously been my dream signing since the takeover. His influence on big games is now fading and there is no doubt we’d be signing a shadow of the player he was.

Yesterday was a prime example against an absolute shower of shite. The amount of times he received the ball around the box you just know in his prime he’s winning that game for them and bagging 2 or 3.

I really wouldnt worry about below par performances. He isnt going to jeopardise the biggest move in football history by over exerting himself for a club he doesnt want to be at.
Sorry, it's not a great advert for someone who's soon to be 34 who'll be on ridiculous money to not 'exert' himself. This should be his come and get me.

He wouldn't be a bad option to have on the bench to try and change things in a tight game against a packed defence!

On a serious note, he would be fking awesome in our team. I think being reunited with Pep would reinvigorate him.

"the biggest football move in history"?

It would be a great move, an exciting move, but a 34 yr old Messi at the end of the day.

When we first went for him 4/5 years ago, your statement would be 100% correct, but not anymore for me.

The signing of Haaland or Mbappe would be far more exciting.

I'm sure Messi would be an interesting investment & marketing story. No idea if that alone would be good enough for the club.

The football story isn't so easy to assess given his age and his current Barca situation (is he giving 100% now or not??).

Pep and all the top togs at City will have analyzed where we have upside potential.
Our match control is great already now, our defending system has risen to worldclass out of nowhere, squad depth is unique, keepers are great - the only obvious weakness would be conversion rate.

We surely will try to address that topic somehow, that's good enough for me. If Delap does the job it's fine with me. I don't need Messi's name at City for other reasons than top football.

Something inside me whispers an aged madly-payed Messi would be a much better Utd fit and it would be much more fun to beat 'em THEN. Sorry, just a thought...

We all know what Soriano is like. Regardless of Messi’s decline, it would still be huge from a marketing perspective. The Pep/Messi reunion after 10 years, we will make a ton of cash from it.

The Messi thing has fucked with Pep's head ever since he trained him, nobody is able to play the false 9 better than him. Whether he can still do it, i'm not sure, but it would be crazy not to try.

Just found it odd you wouldn't select our best to highlight your formation.
I did.

I'm assuming you're talking about Bernardo and Gündo. Who, while in exceptional form, are no where near as good as Kevin de Bruyne. Tell me who you would drop from that team to make it better? (Let me guess, Sterling? again one of our best players under Pep).

Priceless.

There aren’t enough spots in a team to fit in all our best players if we make 1-2 more big signings.
My point was.....for the incredibly antagonistic/pedantic.....that,right now,two of our most in form and effective players were omitted from that 11,which made no sense at all when the impact was focused on our best line up.

Wow,this place is hard fucking work.

You’re maddest geezer on here next to Marvin so don’t be given that out.

For a lot of people they wouldn’t want Sterling out of the team either and neither would Guardiola going off his track record.

I speak my mind,yes......anyway,If you genuinely believe Sterling is in better form than Gundogan or Bernardo, youre off you're fuckin tits.

A. Gündogan and Sterling don’t play even remotely the same position. So... irrelevant.
B. Current form is not how I would pick a team for next season. Sterling has been more consistent over the last 3 years than either Gündogan or Bernie.
C. What is it with you and Sterling?

A good read.

The 3 candidates who want to be Barcelona’s next President discuss Messi.

I find Font the most convincing, as a detached neutral looking at it purely as what they say not who they are. If i was a coolaid, thats who i'd vote for. Laporta seems a nostalgic vote rather than a logical one, but that trend does win elections and he probably will as well.

I personally think both of them are capable of convincing Messi to stay. The third guy, i dont see any chance though.
