Excellent, wanted to see this first time round but missed it. The follow up, Infamy, is not meant to be nearly as good but The Terror is highly rated. There's something starting on BBC2 next Wednesday (I think) about a ship in the arctic ocean (it looks like), set in Victorian times?. Caught a glimpse of it being previewed between Only Connect and University Challenge last night. I didn't catch the name of the show and this is what annoys me on the BBC/ITV, they advertise something so far ahead, I can't set a recording or reminder for it and then tend to forget about it.
EDIT: It's "The Terror", didn't catch it last time round (2018).
Neukölln, where a great deal of the show is based, certainly has a tasty scene, and that is from first hand experience... the Turkish/Kurdish gangs are certainly not to be sniffed at, they are ruthless, which is kind of the point! No offence mate, but gritty underbelly? Pure fantasy this show. Lived here 5 years and it's the least 'gritty' place I've ever lived. Full of vegan hipsters and upper-middle class, startup culture wankers.
One of the very best things I've seen on Netflix. Deft.Just finished ‘The Queens Gambit’, magical !
Used to live on Sonnenallee (fairly close to Karl Marx Strasse). If you know Berlin, you'll know exactly where I'm talking about. People used to talk it up as some kind crime-ridden ghetto. It was all fairly placid. Certainly compared to when I lived in London, Palermo and Marseille.Neukölln, where a great deal of the show is based, certainly has a tasty scene, and that is from first hand experience... the Turkish/Kurdish gangs are certainly not to be sniffed at, they are ruthless, which is kind of the point!
I never thought I’d see him obsessing over twerking.Oh how I miss ray, stick with it, John voight is the man
Ive watched the first 7, not quite as good as billions but a decent enough watch.Watched Devils, on Sky Atlantic. It wasn't bad but the main character mumbles a bit.
Which begs the question, why on earth do you live there? No offence mate, but gritty underbelly? Pure fantasy this show. Lived here 5 years and it's the least 'gritty' place I've ever lived. Full of vegan hipsters and upper-middle class, startup culture wankers.
Haha. Good question. I work for a German TV channel based in Berlin. I'm off to the US to work in a similar role in a few weeks though.Which begs the question, why on earth do you live there?
One of THE best characters ever in the history of TV imo, can't wait for someone to ask me what I'm good at, "There's only two things I'm good at, robbing banks and ......" almost up there with Omar ;-)Oh how I miss ray, stick with it, John voight is the man
It's brilliant isn't it, just has an amazing, magical aura !One of the very best things I've seen on Netflix. Deft.
German Tv channel you say.Haha. Good question. I work for a German TV channel based in Berlin. I'm off to the US to work in a similar role in a few weeks though.
I get why people enjoy Berlin. It's a fun place for a visit. Living here is a different matter.
Lol. Not Sat1, unfortunately. Ahh, I miss the days of making sneaky video recordings from softcore porn films on German channels. Sky ruined everything when they went digital.German Tv channel you say.
Pic....
Yep. I get all that.
Personally though it is a great city & hugely contrasting areas (some far more down trodden than anywhere in Manchester, others far more nicer).
Same in many places though (and why I think I’ll always stick to Manchester).
San Francisco was amazing but after a month there I could see the cracks opening and the wild side of the US which would change you as a person....still, was utterly eye opening.
Do you know where you’re going in the US?
Good luck btw.
Mentioned further up the thread - 3rd March. Looking forward to it.I see The Terror is finaly being shown on 'normal tv'. Saw the first episode for free on AMC a few years ago, then you had to subscribe to something or other to watch the rest.
Its comming to BBC2 soon.
Tried it but gave up in the second episode. I can see its appeal but thought the events were a tad ridiculous and didn't like the format of the show.
