Just been following the Laporta press conference in which he is showing his sporting project.
If this is the sporting project that is supposed to convince messi to stay then he’s got problems.

Spent 30 mins talking about his past success and how great that was. His plan seems to be based around “changing mentality” and putting more work into youth players.

He sounds credible and that he would make an effort to move Barca in the right direction but he’s said nothing that suggest he’s going to be able fix Barca’s immediate problems of having a poor first team and little funds to rebuild it.

Why would Messi stick around for a sporting project that wouldn’t really benefit him? It will be years before any of Laportas plans come to bare fruit.

Laporta also can't guarantee he'll win the next election after that. The power struggle and politics there will continue. Whether he ends up at City or not I think it's best for him to get the hell out of there.

Worked last time around tbf.

Yeah it certainly did. What he achieved last time was incredible

However the chances of finding another golden generation is slim! The reason it’s so special is cause it doesn’t happen very often.
City have invested massive sums into youth football and it’s took ten years to finally see players good enough to play first team. And then even that’s one or two players at best.

What are the chances they produce anyone as good as xavi, inesta, pique and then find another Messi to top it all off!

Sweet fuck all, but I'd argue that the arguably just as important part last time was fucking out the piss takers like Ronaldinho, Deco, Zambrotta and eventually Eto'o and building around the lads who loved the club and worked.

Such a tease.

In fairness to Barcelon, they do have some incredibly promising players coming through and already part of the squad. It will take time for them to get to that top level and ability to be dominant against opposing established top players, but there are a few with the potential to do that.

The problem will be maintaining enough success until them to make them commercially relevant with what they can afford in the short term.

Can’t see Messi leaving Barca if Laporta is elected.

That’s probably why city came out and said they have not made Messi a offer.
Messi has probably informed them that he’s staying if Laporta is elected.

"When Laporta says that he believes Messi will continue it's because he knows it."

Does'e, Aye?! Does he Fuck!

Messi may well end up stayong there, but if Laporta really knew it, we'd be hearing a lot lot more of it, amd a lot less state sponsored clubs mud slinging.

Just another campaign stunt and the people at Barcelona know it
