What’s there to do on a Friday night in California when everything’s closed and ones family is out of town save me? Why, watch Liga MX, where powerhouse Mazatlan is taking on juggernaut Queretaro. I might be exaggerating.

Anyhow I’m watching this somewhat rotund, slow fellow who plays defense (allegedly) for Queretaro. You can see his footprints as he trudges around the pitch, and has so far illegally closed down a free kick, given the ball away a half dozen times, scissor-kicked two players (and received no cards because the referee appears to be blind), and generally played like Anderson for 36 minutes.

Then I realize: it’s Antonio Valencia.

The vagaries of age catch up with us all, but as Valencia is a snide ex-rag little prick, I’m happy to report Mazatlan leads 2-0 and Queretaro just had a man sent off.

That was the same day.

I was amazed that the pisscan wasn’t No. 1, and then realised it had to be City managers that were missing, given how well we did in that decade.

As I said, I was staggered that Pep won more points than GPC, but thinking about it, it’s not really surprising.

It makes me want to throw up. I’ve noticed they’ve gone back to calling Firmino by his last name now seeing as he’s scored one goal in about three seasons.
