Political relations between UK-EU

I don't think overruling/undermining the regulators is a reasonable act. I also expect the regulators are keeping themselves informed with the extra studies on the older agegroups, without needing to be told.
maybe. But they didnt actually rush to aprrove the vaccine in the first place. I think the damage is probably done. You only have to look at the damage to our own governments credibility in many areas when dealing with this virus. Its incredibly hard to change public perceptions rightly or wrongly.

end of February and except for Johnsons ludicrous " eat all the British fish" idea ( though if we all did that he'd have to then campaign for the UK chicken industry, the UK pork industry, the UK lamb industry and the UK beef industry as their sales fall as we move to a fish based diet - never really thinks things through does he? ) anyway back on message it seems like the fishing industry is being allowed to gently slip beneath the waves - French seem to be doing ok though

Just for all those huffing out their chests and saying we need to drive boats fishing illegally in our waters should probably have a butchers at this today - we can even stop Greenpeace lobbing rocks into the channel ffs

Take back control of our waters.............heartbreaking disaster informed by lies and still they deny it the oxygen of publicity because they would have to acknowledge a fuck up

and the lies persist

whereas back on the 10th December Useless was writing to ministerial colleagues telling them bi-valve molluscs could not be exported to the EU under the agreement they had reached

I guess many on here wont agree with this chap either.

I suspect people on here do agree with him as the data we've got over here seems to suggest it's working fine in that age group so far. However, until the German regulators are satisfied, they rightly shouldn't be dishing it out, as is their prerogative.

A more relevant point for this thread is why isn't the EU forcing them to comply with what the EU medical regulator has said?

Maybe they don't force non-sovereign states to bend to their will after all.

With regards to your last point I think we have always seen that EU countries always apply EU to suit their own agendas when it suits them.

Yep, it’s weird that these non-sovereign EU states are within their rights to ignore EU regulatory authorities if it suits but the newly sovereign UK has to get agreement from the EU every time it sends a shipment from GB to NI. This new sovereignty we’ve got is great isn’t it.

Seriously, why that poster is still posting internal German issues on the UK-EU relations thread rather than the Covid thread is bizarre when it’s been clear for days that not only is it nothing to do with the UK, it’s nothing to do with the EU either.

Oh dear - red meat for its frothing Brexit readership.........words used like fury and revenge plot.........in reality what it should read is "3rd country rules applied to 3rd country" but the truth hurts - we left - they won - whats up with these Brexiteers?

depressingly predictable from the newspaper and politicians involved.

I wonder if people will gradually think being part of the trade club was worth it, as I’m yet to see any of the political advantages of not being in the EU, but plenty of the ballache of being outside the single market

its amazing but Brexit and Covid seem to be having zero impact on the Tories ratings - time will tell - the elections in May will be interesting

I don’t know if we think this with every government and opposition, and it’s been happening for decades, but we really seem to have the worst array of politicians (on both sides) at the moment. I know the vaccine has been a success, but brexit x covid, and the piss poor handling of both should have them behind by default.

I alternate between despair at the self-harm of what we've done, and finding the Express just risible.

Washington's new position, reported by Express.co.uk, sparked outrage in the UK with many critics questioning the so-called "Special Relationship" between Britain and the US.

One furious Express.co.uk reader said: "Tell them to stick their trade deal where the sun doesn't shine!
"It's not a trade deal! It's a CON! We always end up giving more and receiving less and receiving inferior substandard goods. Plus being ripped off!"

Even better, complaining that French MEPs aren't speaking English in the Euro Parliament!

Locally, businesses are saying it will take a couple of months for the shortages and price rises to emerge - best if it becomes clear before the local elections.

The Express is utterly ludicrous yet it reflects the attitudes of a significant proportion of the population including a few on here whose posts could easily be Express quotes. The sense of entitlement that we should somehow be granted the same privileges as when we were members and outrage that other countries and trading blocs are putting their own interests before ours is a constant deliberate strategy to fuel grievances that they hope will be sufficient to keep their sponsors in control of government policy.
