The Conservative Party

watching Question time for the first time in years. Grant Shapps getting a bit of a grilling for his government not caring about the arts and entertainmemt industry. And rightly so. They really dont care, the support for this sector has been abyssmal from the off and its been the hardest hit, and Sunaks attitude of just retrain was pathetic and insulting, I noted he never said that to other sectors.

President Archie Mountbatten - Windsor.

Ironically, Harry may have left the Royal family but it wouldn't surprise me if his son is brainwashed, sorry a rightful heir for the role...

The thing about the arts is something always comes along that's thought provoking and occasionally revolutionary. Governments don't like such freedoms of expression.

The Arts and Entertainment industry is for Marxists. If their is abundance of what everyone needs ala under Marxism then the Arts and Entertainment industry becomes a bedrock of society as people have time on their hands to enjoy these things.

Workers should not enjoy the arts, they are the preserve of the monied elites and workers should be producing so they can be exploited for their surplus value so that the monied elites can enjoy the arts.

Oh joy. Income tax set to rise. Not sure why those who haven't received any benefit from furlough etc should be punished and made to pay more tax. Disgusting.

I know - he wants to tax the 4.5m self employed more - having given the Excluded all 3m of them fuck all help for a year - in fact he has blanked their very existence - I hope they remember that fact at the ballot box

It is ridiculous that businesses who've had to shut for most of the year are being punished further with higher corporation tax. Meanwhile Amazon who've benefited from the pandemic pay very little.

This govt have been awful with spending, deloitte are still being paid £900k a day to advise on track and trace. Add that to the long list of whopping contracts handed out to their pals.

Fuck the tories.

Sunak doing the rounds today to promote his leadership bid...Sorry talk about the "Budget"

Do you remember the days when the Chancellor used to be said to be in "purdah" in the run up to the budget and reveal nothing before the day? Now I think just about all Govt announcements in the Commons are pointless as anything and everything is blabbed to their client journalists beforehand.

They are.

It's all about talking to friendly journo's over parliamentary scrutiny.

Not all lower than vernin...

Tory MPs demanding a vote on cuts to aid budget and specifically to Yemen (while prolonging the war by arms sales to Saudi Arabia *).

Virtually calling their own government child-killers by halving aid to Yemen.

* Alleviating starvation by donations out of war profits, profits from the war that's causing children to starve.

In case you weren't aware the Tories provide aid to 3.8 million people across Yemen in the form of food vouchers (Because .......crack dens and brothels).

YCMIU even if you really really tried.

I agree with this. There appears to be this idea of briefing a policy idea, let press run with it under the auspices of “the government are considering” see public reaction and decide if it should become policy or how to spin it. No way to run a country

It noticeably changed with Blair and Campbell. I guess they proved the formula.

Probably was that **** Campbell that created it.

It went on much before then. Thatcher's government used to leak something that would be much more unpopular than the policy they were actually considering. Then when the actual policy was announced there was a general feeling of 'oh, well that's not so bad.'

Not sure it was a new trick back then, either.

That reminds me of the council tax, local headlines says it’s going up 18% or whatever and when it “only” ends up going up 9% you think you’ve dodged a bullet. Seems to happen every year, Crafty fuckers.

It’s interesting you mention Thatcher, the old grey matter might be failing me as I don’t put it in the same context as Blair’s government but you have reminded me that the press was briefed by her to remove certain individuals from public life or to the back benches.
