I know United are 2nd, but let's not pretend they are title challengers. SOMEONE has to be second and they are simply slightly better than the other teams. Most of the better teams are having poor seasons. They are as far as away from us as Everton and Spurs are.
They have a gameplan of hitting teams on the break and the only thing that separates them from the likes of Palace etc is that they have more money to spend on better quality players. Regardless of what we think of them, players like Maguire, Rashford, Fred, Martial, De Gea, Pogba and their best player Fernandes are what keeps them up in the top spots, certainly not their manager.
They are having a great season for them and it's good for us as they cannot sack him if they are in the CL spots. This means there is no danger of them sacking the paperboy and bringing in a serious manager. Imagine what Tuchel could've done with them for example. Or Ancelotti.
Honestly, United will be more than happy to avoid a heavy defeat against us. They will set out for a draw and try to hit us on the break - what a surprise. It will only be the 20th time on the trot they've tried it. Sometimes they get lucky but most times it's just delaying the inevitable. It's their only tactic and to be honest, they are an upmarket Wolves/Palace.
There's only two teams who can give us a good challenge - Liverpool and Chelsea. Unfortunately for Chelsea they are starting late but Tuchel looks to have got them playing and can see next year being an interesting one for them. Liverpool are shot and I'm not sure Klopp will be able to get them going again this season.
As I've said a few times now, no team will beat us if we play our normal game. We have moved up a gear and this side - minus KdB and Aguero - is the best team Pep's had. The balance of pace, poise, intelligence and resilience is almost perfect. The only teams that can beat us are the serious European teams on 1 leg and ourselves.
This is big-headed, but I just don't see any other team beating us in the PL. Some might get a lucky draw, but I can see us getting 90+ points and having a 20+ point difference to the next team.
