My point was that no sensible fan should think the rags were a better attacking team than us because the stats say they have better goals for data. As always stats should be studied in context.
I wonder how many goals they have actually scored from open play. They rely totally on dodgy penalties and free kicks.

I’d tend to agree.

Another poster alluded to the fact their fixture vs Liverpool could very well be the day that we win the league.

Would be almost poetic if Liverpool took points from United to secure City’s title.

We could have done that last season. The league was gone. But we ended up with nothing more.

We also had to save face. We were the reigning champions and miles off the pace Liverpool were setting. I don’t think Pep could’ve just thrown the league and fallen further behind.

I don’t think we were as bad as people made out last season but made costly mistakes at crucial times in games. Fine margins.

I still struggle to work out how we lost 9 premier league games last season.

Agreed! I would have happily accepted a league back in august too...This year CL is bit easier since barca madrid are absolute wank. PSG, bayern, atletico were the concern and seems atletico is done too and PSG have a new manager. Lets Hope!
Bayern a A.Madrid are the two I want us to steer clear of and hopefully Chelsea can do the business when they meet again in a couple of weeks.

If we had to play either I’d prefer it in the knockout stages over two legs than a one-off game in the final

the likes of madrid, Barca, PSG, Juventus, Chelsea, Liverpool, Dortmund....bring them on!

Winning the League is no longer enough for us to be called, best in England, we have to win the CL or be failures, according to Carragher anyway.
Why do i get the feeling a SKY sponsored team is unlikely to win the League?

It’s not been discussed anywhere, so I don’t know if it has come in or not, but this article suggests it has.

"In 2019/20 the team who have collected the most points in the head-to-head duels between the sides lying level on points, goal difference and number of goals scored, will take the highest finishing position,

I know United are 2nd, but let's not pretend they are title challengers. SOMEONE has to be second and they are simply slightly better than the other teams. Most of the better teams are having poor seasons. They are as far as away from us as Everton and Spurs are.

They have a gameplan of hitting teams on the break and the only thing that separates them from the likes of Palace etc is that they have more money to spend on better quality players. Regardless of what we think of them, players like Maguire, Rashford, Fred, Martial, De Gea, Pogba and their best player Fernandes are what keeps them up in the top spots, certainly not their manager.

They are having a great season for them and it's good for us as they cannot sack him if they are in the CL spots. This means there is no danger of them sacking the paperboy and bringing in a serious manager. Imagine what Tuchel could've done with them for example. Or Ancelotti.

Honestly, United will be more than happy to avoid a heavy defeat against us. They will set out for a draw and try to hit us on the break - what a surprise. It will only be the 20th time on the trot they've tried it. Sometimes they get lucky but most times it's just delaying the inevitable. It's their only tactic and to be honest, they are an upmarket Wolves/Palace.

There's only two teams who can give us a good challenge - Liverpool and Chelsea. Unfortunately for Chelsea they are starting late but Tuchel looks to have got them playing and can see next year being an interesting one for them. Liverpool are shot and I'm not sure Klopp will be able to get them going again this season.

As I've said a few times now, no team will beat us if we play our normal game. We have moved up a gear and this side - minus KdB and Aguero - is the best team Pep's had. The balance of pace, poise, intelligence and resilience is almost perfect. The only teams that can beat us are the serious European teams on 1 leg and ourselves.

This is big-headed, but I just don't see any other team beating us in the PL. Some might get a lucky draw, but I can see us getting 90+ points and having a 20+ point difference to the next team.
