why would it cost the country more if they upped sticks and left. These companies take money out of our economy not add money into it. Some other company would surely just take their place and that company would pay its tax.The chancellor didn't say anything about not dealing with tax avoidance but the reality is you'll get a lot of larger companies employing tricks to avoid the same % share smaller companies face. Push them too hard and they will up sticks and move somewhere they can get away with it, and that can cost the country more than the tax lost through avoidance. It ain't right, it ain't going to change. In the meantime the government have to set the rules for everyone else.
I dont really care if Amazon upped sticks and left the UK as i know another UK based company would scale up and replace them veey veey quickly.
