Help me out here.

I keep seeing references to scousers blaming Chelsea fans for being in some way responsible for Heysel, can you fill me in as to what form of delusion this is?
When Heysel happened, Liverpool FC tried to displace the blame from their fans. Their chairman, John Smith, claimed there were lots of southern accents heard in the strands and pointed the finger at Chelsea fans and they blamed the location of the final.

*From a quick google.

And that was it? Bloody hell! They're not quite right in the head.

Very funny.

Let me be more specific, what is the nature of the narrative that somehow connects Chelsea to Heysel?
Dippers refusing to take responsibility for their actions. Chelsea obviously the first name to come to mind, if not it would probably have been Derby, Millwall or Leeds. Never mind that it would have been hard enough for their own fans to get into a European final.

There’s a long post on RAWK from someone who attended that tries to associate Chelsea fans and Belgian skinheads with the tragedy.

John Smith specifically tried to blame Chelsea fans.

Also, this reprehensible version of events by Peter Robinson tries to muddy the waters with some supporters with southern accents chanting ‘Shankly’ being in some way responsible.

Nowhere in that article does it even hint that Liverpool fans might in some way be culpable. An absolutely disgusting piece of work.

They need constantly calling out on it because otherwise they will be allowed to rewrite history.

I've just read it, I struggle to find words to adequately describe its spinelessness.

They're an easy club to despise.

Bruce Grobelaar also said ‘it wasn’t Liverpool fans’ in his autobiography and claimed a conspiracy by fans of other clubs to get Liverpool banned from Europe

I know a fair few Chelsea fans including some of the rascals that used to have a bit of sport in the terraces in the 80s. To suggest that they went to Belgium for that game is beyond comprehension really and they bristle at the mere mention they were somehow involved.

An awful tragedy for juventus.

Hey Kloppy, did you know about...

Maybe that's your biggest factor for not competing with us for the league.. no?

What coincidence, they start dropping form and picking up injuries right after testing players for covid.

Anyone who wanted Liverpool out of Europe would have found it far easier to bung Grobelaar to keep throwing it in his net.

They've been doing that since Pontius Pilate told the throng to: "Get after that hippy geezer wot's doing all the rabbiting and punch his head in".

Most of the dippers I know fervently deny they've ever had financial handouts from anyone. All of their success came from hard work - apparently.

So he was in probably a 5* hotel wondering where all the Liverpool fans were, Turin is a wealthy city with lots of very wealthy Juve fans who follow their team everywhere. Re Southern accents anyone been at Euston after a city game going back home will have seen the thousands that get off the Liverpool train following their game. How they only got an extra year was a disgrace - their past record obviously made eufa think of the money involved rather than what was right

I read an article, in pre-season, that explained that liverpool couldn’t win the league this year (20/21) because their heavy use of peds couldn’t be continued due to risk of killing one of them.
It compared the doping the dippers do with doping in cycling and how they can only perform at the highest levels of doping for a relatively limited amount of time. It set out how they’d pushed the limits last year (19/20) having doped up to win the PL in the 18/19 season but failing to do so.
iirc it also said that the dippers had employed ex-team sky doping specialists to manage their doping schedule.
I can’t remember who wrote it but I think I got the link to it on here and I’ll be very grateful if someone can point me back in that direction. Thanks.
Very high, and possibly dangerous, amounts of Red Bull and caffeine wasn’t it?

Vardy accused of doing the same thing a few years ago.

I think this may be it. Very interesting.
Hope the link works.
