I would have preferred to see Walker behind Mahrez - Cancelo will have to play as an orthodox right back as KdB probably will not cover that side as well as Bernado will.
Given our 21 game run I guess we should be expecting to play our game rather than react to theirs though.

Man for man you can't knock any in the line-up, none have had a string of poor games. You could say Sterling has been in and out of form, but he, Mahrez and Jesus will run the Utd back four ragged.

A good call having Walker on the bench, Martial and James will be looking for any foul and Walker does occasionally get a bit carried away.

And what a bench!

I worry as always before the derby. They've pissed me off a couple of times recently with breakaway goals at the Etihad and it's something they are based around. We seem to have learnt how to handle counterattacks better in the last few games so here's hoping. But we don't have pacey Walker or dynamic Bernardo in the side. However it's a free hit because even if the jammy rags get one over against us, there's no way their brand of football will provide enough wins against the defensive park the bus and hit you on the break sides. And we've beaten them well recently so Pep knows how to handle them. I reckon we will win, hoping for a couple of early goals and I can relax!!

I agree but our squad is that strong that we can only please some of the people some of the time. You know the rest pal.

We've got to put out the very best in a derby though, suited to play against the team that the Rags put out.

Still reasonably confident, but I'm not quite sure this team is it. Martial Rashford and James all starting indicates one thing and one thing only, and it's that one thing that has given us trouble in the recent past.

Like I said, fingers crossed.

Bernardo's started 18 of the past 21 games, so I doubt anyone in the squad is concerned about "the message". You'd see him play every minute of every game but Pep is thinking about his fitness long term and the KO games later in the season. Last time he got run into the ground he went MIA for nearly 2 years, so I'd rather he got rested for a game here and there.

We beat United easily without him in the last derby (1 of the 3 he missed on this run) .

You also don't know how KDB has trained in the last week or how quickly he's returned to fitness.
If you believe that drivel we’ll leave it at that..

I expected Bernardo and Walker to start. Overall, I’m satisfied with the team but worry about De Bruyne’s influence on Gundogan’s attacking qualities.

If De Bruyne makes lots of stray passes like we’ve seen since his return, we could be in a lot of trouble today.

Bernardo keeps ball well and or lays it off for another player without misplacing a pass and giving opposition

opportunity to transition quickly. KDB either drives forward and gives a wonderful defence splitting pass or

just gives opposition an easy ball back in middle of the park with a first time misplaced or mishit pass.......

I dont think we need all of Kevin's brilliance against this lot. Just need to keep possession, move them around

when we have the ball and press them hard when we don't. We have enough quality forwards to score the goals.

Obvious KDB screamer & x3 assists it is then...........

Hopefully Pep takes him off @ halftime though........

Bernie treatment reminds me of Jesus. There’s been times when he’s played extremely well for 5 games on the spin but as soon as Kun comes back from injury Jesus would immediately be on the bench all the time. No bedding in period for Kun, no nothing.
