Garden Birds and wild birds thread.

I have a new badger , a rough old male i think , not seen him before, he has a bite wound on his face , a big puncture wound , looks nice and red and not infected . Wonder if he has been scrapping with the usual gang . Just that one and one other keeping its distance at the moment

Cute , dont kill them !

This guy is getting to be a bit or a regular in our garden. Normally appears around 9 or 10am most days.

Yesterday, he came in and buried some peanuts next to the path, whilst a crow was sat on the shed roof watching. As soon as the squirrel started to wander off the crow swooped down to dig up the nuts. Fortunately for the squirrel, it spotted the crow and chased it off. Then it was a bit of a stand off for about 5 minutes, before the crow eventually gave in and flew away.

What apparatus was that photograph taken with. Beautiful camera work

Cheers.

It was a Canon EOS-650D and EF-75-300 f4.5-5.6. It was taken hand held through glass. I think it was ISO800 in AV mode at the widest aperture, and it's been processed in Adobe Lightroom. Just a quick edit (crop, black/white point, curves adjustment and minor saturation boost) and noise removal, nothing fancy.

I now have a large beautiful pheasant feeding every day. I'm not sure if it is a result of a reduction in the complete wank stains not being able to shoot him, or he was just lucky. He is a handsome bastard and I hope he manages to evade the cowards who take pleasure in killing such beauty. As always when I year shooting I will hope an accident occurs and one of them has his head blown the fuck off. That would make my day.

Something new all the time

Got up yesterday morning to see a sparrowhawk on the garden plucking some poor bird it had killed. It must have spent twenty minutes removing all the feathers and eating some before flying off with the remains into a nearby wood.
It seemed oblivious to me or any threat in the garden.
It was bigger than I expected, quite a bit bigger than a kestrel.
