Garden Birds and wild birds thread.

Quite a tight course with lot of trees and consequently lots of wildlife and lost balls
I always found that if I could navigate the 1st without having to go climbing up that hill on the right then I might be set for a good round

We were lucky enough to have a family in our garden last year. Every night you could see them on the lawn rooting around for worms. Mother and two young uns. Then they completely disappeared. Turns out the mother had got trapped in next doors porch overnight and instead of just releasing it the neighbours had put it in a box and taken it half a mile away into the woods to be released. God knows what happened to the baby hogs.
Hedgehog territories can be quite wide ranging. It's possible the youngsters latched onto the dad-hog and followed him elsewhere. Hopefully. Folk just need to educate themselves about wildlife and what to do with it on their doorstep, I include meself in that as well...

That's the dog leg. My round usually fell apart on the par 5 3rd:-), if not the next hole also a par 5. But it is a very lovely course with plenty of birds flying about including hoopoes

Loads of hogs here, its like living in a nature reserve here. Simply standing on my balcony I will see Blackbirds, that come on the balcony to help themselves to meal worms and have been caught actually in the living room in one particular female blackbird. Robins, Pigeoan, Jackdaws, Carrion Crows, Magpies, Chaffinches, Goldfinches,Wrens, Blue, Great and Long tailed tits, Wagtails, Mistle Thrush, the odd sparrow hawk, and the Odd Kite comes down at the back. A walk down by the river will add various ducks geese and swans and now a Cormorant has taken up residence. Mid you we even get the ducks coming to us, got a hilarious pic of one on the roof the other day. I have also seen a short eared owl and a little owl just out of town.

I have also seen Nuthatches, Redwings, Ravens, woodpeckers, close by.

Come the night numerous hogs, a couple of foxes and I have even seen a badger. Owls and bats too. It really is incredible how much wildlife we get being almost in the town centre. Very lucky really. On the minus side at certain times of the year we do seem to get a good few giant spiders and massive red underwing and the odd hawk moth gets in and cause a kerfuffle with her indoors.

Robins are back and feeding a fledgling in the garden!
Put out some dried meal worms for them then had to spend ten minutes driving away the starlings that don’t give a toss!

Yeh, I've just seen the robin pair together grubbing about at mine, first time for awhile so I expect there will be a fledgling(s) stashed somewhere nearby...
